My dd is having her c/section on Wednesday and does not have any nursing bras yet. EVERYONE has told her that she needs to wait until after the babies are born as she will grow. What should she use in the meantime? I feel like we are down to the wire and I don't think she's going to want to run to Target as soon as she gets out of the hospital..any suggestions???
    TIA

I was asking myself the same question. I just bought a really cheap one, that's slightely too big. It probably won't fit perfectly, but I think it'll do for the time in the hospital.
My plan is to order some better ones online when I get home.

I was stuck in the hospital waiting with premature rupture of membranes and we just zipped down to a store assoc with the lactation consultatnts. They had nursing bras, nursing gowns, breast pumps, and tiny baby clothes. They measured me and everything continued to fit just fine after baby was born. If they have a little shop like this on the L&D floor I'd use them. At least for one bra that fits and is comfortable. Not sure how up to dragging off to Target I would have been with a tiny infant.

    Good luck!

I would get one or two now so she has something to wear until she feels up to going and trying more on. I would just go 1 size up from what she is now. I know with my first pregnancy I actually had to start wearing them while i was pregnant because I got so big then I filled them out a little bit more when my milk came in but not much, again every pregnancy is different but it would be nice to have one or two available right away.

With my dd, my favorite nursing bra was actually more like a sports bra. I bought it primarily to sleep in, but liked how comfortable and easy that it was. I ended up wearing it all the time! I think that these are a little more forgiving when it comes to size. You can grow a little and shrink a little and it will still work for you.

I purchased a few Bravado Bras to wear while pregnant/nursing. I had one med that was comfortable while pregnant and then switched to large when my milk came in. They are SUPER comfortable and easy to undo/redo with one hand. I would just get one or two to have on hand and then purchase more after the babies are born. HTH [IMG]

I went and bought a cheap one - at Walmart for like $8
I will probably buy another before my big day - a friend told me that Motherhood maternity has good ones for $12 - but I will send dh or my
aunt to get more once I figure out which I like the best and which
size after the girls are born!!

The saleswoman at Motherhood measured me while pg and said that most women go up one cup size when their milk comes in. So I bought 2 bras that were one cup size bigger and she was was right - they fit perfect. I also bought a sleep bra like the one Michelle posted a link to - that thing was a godsend. When you are leaking all over, you need something to hold your nursing pads in at night. You don't need to know your cup size for that.

I went with Bravado bras which have a size range rather than a cup size. I bought the size where I was at the bottom of the range and they have fit all along. They also have measuring instructions and information about how your size will likely change on their website.

    Hi there,

Bravado bras are great, Since I am nursing twins, I found the one I bought prior to delivery was too small once my milk supply came in... so, my suggestion is to have your daughter get fitted for a bravado bra and then go up one size -- and she should at least be able to wear it in a month :)

I recommend buying a couple of Bravado sports bra styles...make sure you get the ones with the snaps on the straps. As the PP said, they come in a size range, and fit very comfortably. I wore mine while I was pregnant as it was comfy...I remained in the same size bracket after the babies were born. Congrats to you.

Thanks so much for all of your advice. We are going to tackle this tomorrow if she has the energy, otherwise I am going to MM and get the sports bra to start her off with and go to Nordies for the Bravado's once she's home.. She say this last day and half feels like a lifetime!

I bought some bras when I was still pregnant and on bedrest. I bought them in the size that I was. When I gave birth, my breasts got only slightly bigger (not enough to notice). It was nice having all of my nursing bras right there and fitting!

Maybe she or you can buy 1 nursing bra in the size she is now. If she gets too big, you have only "wasted" money on 1 bra, and then she can go buy the size she needs.

I got all of mine on-line at JC Penny.

    Good luck! [IMG]
