Nursery Set Up?

The intended nursery is the smallest of the bedrooms upstairs. I had planned (back when we thought 1 baby was on the way) to leave the full size bed in there, along with a small glider and 1 crib. Now with 2 on the way, and the inevitable need for 2 cribs, I'm not sure what to do?

    1. Leave the bed in there since I'll nurse on it?

    2. Replace the rocker with a love seat?

    3. Get a rocking love seat? (very spendy from PBK)

    4. Leave the glider rocker as is and only nurse one at a time?

    Thanks for your help!

I like the loveseat idea as you will be able to use the EZ2nurse pillow. Even just a regular loveseat would do fine. Myself I have a glider and nurse on the couch or one at a time in bed or the glider.

Whatever else you decide, if you're going to nurse them for more than a couple of months, you'll want to be able to nurse them together! It will save your sanity and make continued breastfeeding much more appealing. Some people can even feed them together in the first month or two - I had trouble. But now it's one of my favorite things about being a twin mom.

Could you do this: leave the bed in there for the first month or two so you can sleep near them while they're in the same crib, then move in another crib and a loveseat as they get a little too big for one crib and/or when they're sleeping longer stretches so you can return to your own bed for most of the night?

A bed is the one thing I really wish there were room for in the nursery. When they're sick or when I'm just wiped out, it would be so nice to lie down with them...but we have just enough room for two cribs, a changing table, and one chair just big enough for the EZ2Nurse pillow (Ikea's Ektorp).

If you intend to do multiple feedings in their room and would like to tandem nurse (which I highly recommend!) I would go with the loveseat. The bed never really had enough back support for me to nurse on, unless I lay down, and then you can only nurse one at a time. We have a glider, but since I tandem nurse, I usually nurse in the living room on the couch. I do use the glider for occassional soothing, but I wouldn't say it is a necessity for us.

If you can afford it, get that rocking loveseat from Pottery Barn Kids! I saw that recently and thought: OH GAWD that would have been perfect.

Thanks! It helps so much to hear from experienced twin moms. I just may splurge on that rocking love seat. I think I saw it one other place online for less. I want to nurse as long as possible. I nursed my boys for 22 months and 13 months (DS#2 was a biter).

I would have loved a bed in the twins' room - especially in the first 2-3 months. My girls slept well, but it would have been so nice to lay down while feeding them in the middle of the night. Plus it sometimes took them a while to settle down after a feeding. I spent many a nights sleeping some on the floor in their room with a boppy pillow waiting for them to fall back asleep. There were so many nights in the beginning that I would climb back into bed after feeding them only to have one start crying again. It also would be nice when the girls are sick and up every few hours. My twins always seem to get sick at the same time and it always lasts a few weeks. I hate bringing them into our bed because it wakes DH and I hate going downstairs.
