Our nursey isn't going to be done for a while because we're in the process of adding a bedroom onto our house. Our current bedroom is going to be the nursery but my DH is going to gut the room to re-insulate and build a bigger closet. For the first few months he'll be in a bassinett in our room which isn't a problem but where do I store all of his stuff? It hit me the other day that I'll need to set up the changing table in the living or dining room and then I'll need a place for his clothes and stuff. My bedroom is kind of out because it's going to be on the second floor and I don't want to have to climb up and down stairs all day after having a c-section.

Has anyone else been through this? Where did you keep everything in the meantime?

This is my first nesting/ pregnancy panic I think.

A couple of questions: will you be downstairs with him all day, and only upstairs at bedtime? will naps be downstairs or upstairs? do you have any closets downstairs? what rooms do you have downstairs (eg living room, dining room, family room, foyer, etc)?

Ok here are the answers - Should have thought of putting this info in my opening post - DUH! :fool:

Yes, he will be with us upstairs at night only. He'll be napping downstairs during the day in the beginning anyway.

We're very limited on closet space. The only closet on my main level is the closet in the girls' room. We will be building a linen closet as well as a large closet in his room but that's going to take some time to finish. So, no we don't have any spare closet space to use.

Out house is a raised ranch. We have an open floorplan living room, dining room and kitchen (from the front to back of the house) and off of the dining room there is a tiny hallway that has the bathroom straight ahead and one bedroom to the left (which will be his) and one to the right (which is the girls' room). We have a three season porch in the front of the house and one in the back but neither are heated. So, we're pretty limited on space until the renovations are done.

do you have any furniture in your dining room or living room that could hide his stuff???... When I had the twins I didn't even have the changing table on the first floor, but I still refused to go back upstairs to deal with them during the day. Instead I turned my serving table into a place to store stuff.. It has three cubbies on the bottom...so that's where I kept the diapers, wipes, and multiple changes of clothes.... If you don't have something like this, maybe you could pick up a plastic storage drawer type thing from walmart or target and use that. It might look messy...but let's face it, life with an infant isn't exactly ideal for keeping a showpiece home either!! lol!! We are low on closet space and storage space too, so I'm in the same boat with you. I have no idea how we will fit my current girls' stuff all into one room once we move the baby into Judah's room... poor kid will have to share the room with his baby sister... (It was going to be the "boys' room" LoL!! )

Thanks Susanna - I will probably either get one of the plastic dressers from Target or maybe I can figure out a way to make a curtain for the front of the changing table. I have a small hutch in the dining room that wouldn't hold much so I might just try to conceal whatever I can on the table itself.

Our home is under renovations as well. We added on a room, and I am hoping to have it done before Katie gets here. Its a large room, so there is a cubby hole by our closet in it, and her crib will fit so perfect in it, and I am going to put the changing table under the window, which is sort of beside the cubby hole. It is so cute looking.

The boys are getting our old bedroom and bathroom, and they are happy about that, because it is fairly large as well.

I am going to have the swing, bouncer and a few baby items in the living room as well.

We are looking to move (we live in a 3 story townhouse, 4 if you count the garage). I do not look forward to toting 3 kids up/down all the stares! But that being said. Chloe and Cole will stay in thier room on the 3rd floor. The new baby will be in our room on the 2nd floor for at least 4 months. I will probably clean out one of my closet shelves for clothes and try to fit a changing table in our room too (it will be tight). Our den and my office are on the 2nd floor so we spend a lot of time on that level. The 1st floor is where the kitchen is, so I will have no choice to tote them all down there several times a day.

It is going to be exhausing, I know it. The only upside is with Chloe and Cole, I ended up loosing all my birth weitht plus some with all these stares, so I am hoping for a similar result.
