I am having a rough time. My hands and feet are swollen and numbness and tingling have become a problem for me. I have a call into my doctor because I wanted to ask her if I could do the 1 hour glucose early because I fear that my symptoms point to gestational diabetes. Anyone deal with this before? I also have seen spots (Doc said related to blood pressure but it's been LOW not high). And I have a pins and needles feeling in my face sometimes. FREAKING ME OUT! Thanks!

I had numbness in my hands when I was about at your point. It's gotten a little better. Also, compression hose have helped to keep NO swelling in my feet or legs and the pain and numbness I was having in them is completely gone! As for seeing spots or stars, I think that if its HIGH BP it would be black spots. That's what happened to me with my last pregnancy...almost like I was getting ready to pass out. I've had the white spots and stars on occassion with this pregnancy and my blood pressure has been low too. Supposedly just normal as long as you don't have other symptoms of PIH or Pre E or anything.

The swelling in your hands and feet can cause the numbness because the fluid pushes on the nerves around them, it's basically like carpal tunnel syndrome. I am an occupational therapist, and I see lots and lots of carpal tunnel. In fact, the number one cause of carpal tunnel syndrome is pregnancy. Compression hoses may help keep the swelling down in your feet, and wearing a wrist brace at night (like the ones you buy at the store) can help keep pressure off the median nerve in your hand. Not sure about the face and seeing spots, hopefully the doctor will have an answer for that one.

i have had some numbness in my left hand from the carpal tunnel (preg. related) i also had some numbness tingling in my feet but it went away - it was a circulation issue

My feet swell really bad also and I do have tingling in my feet sometimes. I have found that lots of water helps and every night I put 3-4 pillows under my legs at the end of the bed and elevate them. It really helps. Good luck.
