This pregnancy has been super easy (I hope and pray it continues that way) so far. Just this past week - I've started getting numb hands while sleeping, driving, and writing. Anyone else experiencing this? I've talked to my doctor about it - and it's a normal pregnancy thing. It's just driving me nuts!!

It does drive u crazy, but it will go away once u have the babies. Caused with the extra weight/water of pregnancy compressing on the nerves. U could try massage therapy/physio might get some relief.

I came down with Carpal Tunnel during my first pregnancy about the 7th month. This time I developed it a lot earlier, more like 16 weeks. I sleep with a brace on my right wrist and kind of need one for my left one too. After my first it took about 5-6 months for the symptoms to go away, so I imagine that things will be about the same this time too. I am sure things will get better as soon as the babies come. I find that if I dangle my arms at my sides it helps with the numbness. Good luck

I can relate here (fingers going numb now as I type)! It is carpal tunnel and it's supposed to go away after you deliver. I asked the Dr. and the specialist and they said it happens from the increased fluids and that causes pressure in the wrist. I sleep with a brace on my right hand. The left doesn't bother me. I got it at Walgreens for about $14 and it makes sleeping a lot less of a hassle.

I didn't get this until after giving birth to my twins and it was horrible! I still feel it every once in awhile when I type or in certain positions, but not nearly as severe as those first few weeks post partum. What REALLY helped me a lot was the wrist braces pp mentioned, and I also wore them during the day sometimes when it was at its worst.

I have carpal tunnel syndrome anyway. I ended up with really bad nerve damage after I ended up really sick off and on for 2 years in between being pg with oldest DD and DS, from all the IVs in the hospital. It got so bad at one point, my vains shut down and wouldn't give blood any longer. I use to knit, crocet, and embroidery, but now I am lucky to be able to write out a grocery list. I have noticed it getting a little bit worse, but I drink water nonstop and that has helped a lot. You may want to try making sure your arms and hands are below your head when you sleep. It helps me. I can always tell when I have slept with my arms above my head, as my fingers go numb a lot more often than normal. When you do dishes, soak your hands in the warm water and do "exercises" in the water, too. My mother doesn't have carpal tunnel, but she had surgery on her thumb and wrist. She would work her hands in the water and when she went back to the doctor for a check up, he was suprised to see how much mobility she had so early after surgery. I have a brace and it does help when I am doing things like typing, writing and using my hands for long periods of time. But I do know exactly what you are saying. I hope some of my ideas help you, too. It's a pain in the b*tt, not to be able to do all the fun things I use to. <_<

It is normal and something the pregnancy books list as a possible problem during pregnancy. I get it when I have my arms in certain positions. Some are avoidable some aren't. It will get better when the babies are born and your bodies fluid levels return to normal. You are lucky that this is your only problem, the price we pay for our sweet babies.
