Non-Stress Test Forgot to add that they just strap you up to a fetal monitor to monitor the babies movement. They are looking for a specific amount of movement in a certain amount of time. If you pass, you'll go another week without one. If you fail, most of the time they send you to L and D for further evaluation.
It's where they hook you up & monitor both babies heartbeats for a designated period of time as well as your contractions Rachel & I were posting at the same time...she is right! (and more thorough!) :good:
The pp's have you pretty covered as to what the NST is, I just wanted to add, take a book or someone to keep you company. If you end up having to go a lot (I go twice a week) it can get kinda boring.
When do most people start NSTs? I haven't had to do one yet this pregnancy, but I had several last time (the joys of IUGR). Dominique
