NST question...

At my Peri apt last week they said they don't start NST until 36 weeks, and after my 32 week apt tuesday they won't check my cervix anymore and won't see me again until 36 weeks.. I'm just wondering how normal that is? For some reason I just expected they'd see me every 2 weeks until the end, since that's the way it's been since 20 weeks..

I see my OB tomorrow, so I'll talk to her about it.. i just wanted some thoughts from all of you ladies who are going through it too!

 

I started having NST's at 32 weeks. :good: It does sound late to start the NST's but everyone does it differently. I think it's a good idea to ask your OB about it.

 

I started NST's at 34 weeks, at my OB's office. I never saw a peri. They started the NST's at 34 weeks b/c I was 1 cm dilated.

 

I started NST's at 34 weeks and went up to my c-section date. I went to the hospital to have them done and only saw my OB throughout the pregnancy. Definitely agree with asking your OB about it!

 

My peri stopped checking cervix at 29 weeks and said he won't check it anymore. I just had my first NST today, I'm 32 weeks and 3 days. He wants to see me every week now where it was every 2 weeks before.

 

I started having twice weekly NSTs last week at 32 weeks...I would ask about it for sure if it would make you more comfortable. It does seem like a long time til you see your peri next, but you'll have OB appts I assume?

 

thanks ladies... I wrote my list of questions for my apt tomorrow... Seeing how my husband will be super busy flying the next few weeks and out of town for 8 days from 33.5 weeks to almost 35 weeks, I want to make sure I'm comfortable with him being gone..

I had my girls at 35 weeks and had already started having weekly NST's at that point. However, I was having some growth issues with the girls. If everything is going well, they may not see a need.

 

I am starting NST's and BPP's at 30 weeks, however it's only because of my previous history of early delivery and toxemia. So w/o that history, I assume I'd be starting a few weeks later. They took my last cervix measurement last week at 28 weeks.

 

So I didn't even have to ask my OB, before I could get to my questions she said, starting tomorrow you'll be going in twice a week for NST... HAHA.. So looks like I start them tomorrow!

Now I'm wondering how all of the care would be possible if I had a job outside of being a mom.. I have an amazing friend who babysits for me so it's not a big deal.. But I've had a dr. apt once a week since 20 somethign weeks, and now starting next week I'll have 3 apts a week... It's crazy!!! But, I'm not complaining, I love knowing I'm in good hands...

 

I was 29 wks when NST's started and 36 wks when cervical u/s stopped.

Yeah I was thinking that too about how impossible it must be to have a job AND be pregnant with twins at this point! Especially booking the NSTs week to week at least for me I can never get the appointment times that I want, I just have to take what I can get essentially since it's on a week's notice. I think lots of MOMs are off work by this point in the pregnancy though.
