Okay, so they woke at what would have been 6:30am, but is really 5:30am with the time change (they usually sleep until 7:30am so I have NOOOOO idea why they picked this morning, of all mornings, to wake early) so now what do I do? They, jack and lily, are 5 mos. and are taking 3 naps a day - around 9am , 12:30pm, and 3:30/4pm - should I just plan on 4 naps today and normal bedtime of 7:30. Or, should I just do as usuall and put them down when they are ready for bed which will be 6:30 (vs. their normal 7:30 due to time change) and hope they don't wake at 5:30am tomorrow. What do you do? How long does it take? I tried to feed them upstairs like our middle of the night feeding and put them back down when they woke at 5:30 this morning but they were not buying it at all! Our first nap is going to have to be 8am. Thanks, Amy **I hope this makes sense, it is confusing to describe with the adjusted time.
Amy, can you push the naps and bedtimes back by a little over a 1/2 hour? That would get you back on track for the day. Anytime the time changes, we are always out of whack(myself included!). Try not to worry about it too much. Today is going to be a loooong day for us too.
Thanks Becky, I am going to try that...they are; however, already ready for a nap and it is 8am...oh boy! The good news is that this would normally drive me crazy and I would obsess about it all day but I am not really concerned at all and fairly happy to go with the flow! It may be a different story when they are up at 5:30am tomorrow though! Amy
I'm right there with you, its 8am and I feel like I've been up for hours we're usually 6.30am so it woz 5.30 this morning. We had promised them a picnic at the park today, maybe we'll have it for breakfast haha,, I would want to keep them up a little later tonite but they're going to be so tired (no naps here).
Yup, my two were up at 5:30 DD/6:00 DS too. Tried feeding them and putting them right back to bed BUT they wouldn't have none of it. THey have an internal alarm that wakes up at 7am on the dot and with the time change their bodies don't know no difference! It's 8am now and I'm gonna try to push it till 8:30 before putting them down for a nap. Might be hard as I hear them fussing with DH now
Oh I hear ya! I can't believe its only 8 am (all times in this post are adjusted for DST!). I actually tried to keep the girls up last night and started shifting their schedule yesterday. It kind of worked. They woke up at 6am instead of 7am, but I didn't go and get them until 6:45am and then I gave them their bottles at 7. Right now they should be settling down for a nap, but are still whooping it up in the other room so we'll see what the day brings. I'm expecting that the next couple of days are going to be a bit tricky, but oh well. When we visited relatives over the summer in another time zone, I tried to gradually move back their schedule before we left, but ended up just going with clock time once we got there. It was easier for me and they didn't seem too bothered by it. For all my prep yesterday trying to gradually shift their schedule, I'm probably just going to go by clock time today and deal with the fussiness that will probably ensue (especially tonight since they will probably be ready to go to bed by 6 and I'm going to keep them up until 7). -Leighann
Ok don't hate me, but mine got up at the regular time WITH the adjustment! they have been getting up at 7:30 and the clock said 7:30 when they started fussing. (they were up a little later than normal last night though) hmmm do you think they can tell time already? lol Meanwhile I was up at 6:30  I think it is good idea to just go ith the flow Amy
