I've been having problems with them getting undressed at nap and bedtime. We are now at backwards, one piece pajamas. They can't get those off (yet). But today at naptime, Bea somehow got her diaper off without taking the pajamas off. The diaper was pushed down one leg of the pajamas. Do we really have to go to duct tape?
Hee, hee... BTDT! It could be a sign of awareness -- not wanting to wear the diaper once it's wet. Mine are not crib stripping nearly as often as they used to and I'm counting my blessings because absolutely nothing was stopping them anymore (not even backward pajamas... they can squeeze through the neck hole). We're doing naked potty training and it's going well so far. At least they aren't intentionally pooping and peeing on the floor anymore.
QUOTE(MissyEby @ Sep 21 2007, 05:35 PM) I vote for potty training! Sounds like they are ready! Another vote for potty training time. Good luck Kelly, I can only imagine how frustrating this is.
I definitely would have gone with duct tape already. In fact, I have some ready and waiting because I know Lily is going to be pulling her diaper off pretty soon.
I think potty training does sound like a good idea...but maybe you could use pull ups for nap/bedtime during the transition? The girls might feel more like "big girls" not babies with pull ups and not try taking them off?
They have to wear pull-ups at preschool, and they do get excited about wearing them vs diapers, so maybe she would leave a pull-up alone. I am so not ready to potty train, ack!!
Your post made me laugh because I've been wondering the same thing about one of my girls. Two weeks ago, dh was strapping them into the car seats before work to take them to daycare, when he came back in frantically calling for me. I came down to find poop all down her legs, on her socks and shoes, all over dh and I burst out laughing. We had to do the fastest bath ever after stripping down in the garage (at which point she decided to add insult to injury by peeing down her legs and more into her shoes and socks!). She had pooped, didn't like the feel of it, so she unfastened her diaper right through her one piece outfit. Dh didn't realize it until it was too late. Then, we actually went to the playroom where she'd been just before being taken to the car and found the rest of what was in her diaper had dropped onto the floor. Eeeewwwww! So gross! She hasn't done it again yet, but I also stopped placing one piece outfits on her. Now I just stick with something that has a waist to cover the diaper straps. What they don't think of!
We went through the same thing. It was awful. I went for the duct tape. Now that their in big boy beds...they are to busy in and out of bed to worry about getting undressed. ardon:
Katie did that with her diaper once. Hasn't happened since, thank goodness. In your case, it sounds more widespread, and maybe it's potty time, mama!
Your post made me laugh: My mom came over a couple of weeks ago and I picked up Katie to take her to the door and help let Oma in. When I picked her up, I could feel through her one piece outfit that there was no diaper on her little bottom! I thought for a minute that I was losing it and had forgotten to put one on-nope, it was wrapped around her ankle. I have no idea how she did it, but thankfully there have been no repeats. As for Bea, I vote for potty training too. We've been putting the girls on the potty since around 16 months when they requested it. We're moving on to actually training now since they both are going pretty much daily now and prefer haivng BM's in the potty. We actually had to do a potty stop at Burger King yesterday! I wasn't ready this summer with so much else going on, but the point has come when they are ready and mommy and daddy just have to go with the flow, lol. Maybe Bea is at that point too.
