Now I really know what I'm having!

My doctor sent me for a follow up u/s because my amniotic fluid was low on Wednesday (it was 9.3 and the normal range is between 10 and 20). Well, I was also able to find out that I'm having a....

We're really exicted! My DD from day 1 kept telling us that Grandpa told her in her dreams that she was going to have a brother. My FIL passed away in January and she was close to him. She never even considered that this baby might have been a girl. She never waivered. I was very emotional to find out that I am actually having a boy.

 

Congratulations, that is awesome! Isn't it strange how kids just know.

 

Congratulations! You will love having a boy. I would not trade my boys for anything.

:fool: D'oh! I was so excited about the news I forgot to mention the results! Yes, the fluid check went ok. I measured 13 today. She explained that there should be four pockets of fluid around the baby. She said that the technician that did the scan on Wednesday might have used a lot of pressure which in turn made the pockets of fluid look smaller. She showed me the difference between a measurement using light pressure and pressing harder. The harder she pressed the more oblong the pocket was making it look smaller. She also said that the baby could have been positioned differently making it look smaller.

Of course she also stressed the importance of staying hydrated. She said that they get a lot of women in thinking they're in pre-term labor and they really just need to drink more water.

Michelle, that is great!! Your girls will be so excited to have a little brother. Start buying some blue clothes!! Glad the fluid check came back okay. Will they keep an eye on that now?

 

Yes, Maureen, they'll do at least one more scan. Yesterday they told me that if I was 36-37 weeks they wouldn't bat an eyelash at my level being low but at this stage they keep an eye on it. I'm still scheduled for another scan on the 11th but they might switch that appointment after the doctor gets the final reports in.

It is so funny how kids are! My daughter is convinced that she is going to have a brother and a sister... In fact she actually tells people that she has a brother and a sister... I haven't found out what they are yet, and wont until 7/9! We will have to see! My daycare provider is pregnant and her son got angry at her when she would say that the baby could be a girl... turns out it's a boy!
