I've already talked to my pedi about this, but I'm curious if this has happened to anyone else.....

I started giving my girls their solids a little over a week ago. I started with Gerber green beans & then moved to carrots 3 days later. I noticed that the girls started getting more gas & spitting up more as they started eating solids. Looking back, I think they even started spitting up more when they were only eating cereal. I gave them cereal on Sunday night & they STILL spit up!!! I mean like crying & fussing until they spit up, then they feel much better & stop crying. I think the solids started hurting their stomachs. Per the pedi's recommendation, I stopped the solids for 48 hours & there was NO spitting up today!! So I definitely think they are related.

Does this just mean their stomachs aren't ready for solids?? They're only about 5 months adjusted now, so I'm thinking I might wait until they're 6 months adjusted to try again. Anyone have any similar stories??

When we first tried to start solids we noticed that Amelia stoped STTN and in the morning we noticed a big orange stain all down her sleeper - she'd been spitting up her solids in her sleep. Do your babies gobble down the solids or are they being picky eaters? It might be hurting their bellies, that happened to Amelia. Once she got a little older it stopped, and I had to stop feeding her once she stopped showing interest, even if it was only a few bites.

:hug99: I haven't experienced this. I would call the pedi.

It could just mean that they aren't ready, and that waiting a little is really what they need. FWIW, green beans always made my girls miserable, even now they still do sometimes.

I would definitely put them on the back burner for a bit and let their digestive systems mature. Then hopefully you will have a much more pleasant experience the next time. :hug99:

Thanks ladies!!! I think I will wait a few more weeks to try again. It was so awful to see the girls so miserable, I don't want them to feel that way again.

My ds spit his green beans up about a half hour after he gobbled them down, dd wouldnt even think about a second bite of her green beans. You could wait a little longer, no big deal. I didnt start solids on a regular basis until just a few weeks ago.

We had to stop solids and wait a couple of weeks too. The second time around things went much smoother.
