    Hi There,

I'm about 23 weeks along right now and am supposed to take a 3 hour flight this weekend and the return flight a few days later. I asked my OB if it was okay to fly at my appointment 2 weeks ago and they wouldn't give me a clear answer. At that point I had no signs of pre-term labour, but they said that they couldn't predict how I would be in 2 weeks. I've read that in general doctors don't recommend that women pregnant with twins should fly after 24 weeks. I'm still technically in the safety zone but I'm still freaked out about cutting it so close. What do you think?

    worried <_<

Thanks a lot for your input... It makes me feel a lot better about flying

I wasn't allowed to fly at that time because my twins were at risk for developing TTTS and I was going to the Dr weekly. Every week it was possible that I would be going in for surgery. As long as you are not having any complications with your pregnancy, you will be fine.

Follow your gut. Every pregnancy is different and every woman is different. You have to determine what risk you are willing to take. Some women can fly with no issues, others can trigger pre-term labor - its really one of those things you won't know until after the flight is over. So, you have to decide if the risk is one you are willing to take.
If you do fly - stay hydrated and try to move around often.

I agree, follow your gut. I was very nervous about flying while pg. until my OB cleared me to do so. I took a trip at 25 weeks from Massachusetts to San Fran, California. I booked a layover purposely to get up and walk around. Get up when you can to stretch your legs and even though bathroom breaks are a bummer, drink, drink, drink (water that is).

I wasn't allowed to fly after 18 weeks with the twins and 24 weeks with my singleton. My doctor is pretty cautious though. Michelle's advice is great. Make sure you get up, walk around and drink LOTS of water. You need to go with your gut on this as others have said.
