Not napping this week

My kids have been on a napping strike this week. They napped well on Monday, but not at all since then.

I put them down at 1 or 1:30. They go to bed at 7:45-8:00, earlier if no naps.

They just don't seem tired at nap time, but they get really tired in the early evening and last night DS could not stay awake through dinner.

    Should I try a later nap time, like 2 p.m. or 2:30?

We have been doing quiet time, but it's really just play time in their room. They don't have any toys in there, but they find a way to play with each other. I've tried separating them, but the one that I put in the office just keeps coming out over and over again.

Does this sound like the end of naps? They did have a napping strike a few months ago but they returned to napping pretty consistently.

It's certainly possible, but I'd keep putting them down anyway - if they sleep, great, if not, do what you're doing with an earlier bedtime. That's what I've been doing with my girls & they always surprise me. We've gone over a week without a single nap & I thought for sure they were done & then they went right back to consistently napping 2 hours a day. I figure it's my job to offer them a time & a place conducive to sleep & their job to decide if they're going to sleep or not.

This is what happened to me when I stopped giving my girls naps. They would just go in their room and play and stopped sleeping at nap time altogether. I kept up with putting them in their room for awhile but after a few weeks I stopped naps altogether. That also made them sleep better at night because they were more tired. I'd say they were about 2.5 when they stopped taking naps. Now, they sometimes nap but only if we are driving in the car. I don't put them down in their room anymore.

Thanks for your replies. To update, they have been hit and miss with naps for the past couple of weeks. I have been separating them and sometimes they nap and sometimes they don't. If they nap too late they do not want to go to bed at night so I am having to wake them by 3:30.
