What have you done when you encountered this? I've taken out everything except for the bare essentials. They continue to talk and pull out all of their clothes, for over 1 hour+. I have already gotten rid of their cribs, but still have pack n plays. Maybe I need to try those, however, they know how to climb out. I didn't want to seperate them because, I don't really have another child proof safe room. Any ideas?

I was going to suggest crib tents, but since you got rid of the cribs already that is obviously not an option. Not sure you can do much at that age other than just keep putting them back in bed, but I'm not sure if that method works for naps.

Can you get the cribs back??? That would be my first choice!

If not, I would try the PNPs or just keep putting them back in the beds and strip the room of all things FUN! You can get tents for the PNPs as well.

    Good luck!

Same issue here. I'm at my wits end with the non-napping and early wake-ups. They go to bed at night fine. Their room is completely dark, but yet they still are up at naptime taking the mattresses off their beds, banging on the door, etc...

They have quite a large assortment of stuffed animals for their beds. I think we are going to start removing one item for every time they get up.. do you think they are too young to understand this???? I'm not sure what else I can do!?!?

Yeah, nightime is not a problem at all. I do have room darkening shades and curtains over the shades, however, it's still light enough were all they want to do is play and destroy. Yesterday they finally went down, after 1.5 hours of playing, and me going in 4 times being firm and mean. One fell asleep on the floor, and one in bed, then I had to wake them 1 hour later to try and keep them on their schedule. I've also had to try and rig their drawers, since I have close everywhere. I have noticed thought, that taking all of their toys, books, etc, didn't seem to help. They just found new stuff, like their drawers, pillows, and blankets.

    Hopefully, this is temporary.

Oh boy. Reading this further cements my decision to keep them in their cribs for as long as possible!!

Good luck - hopefully it is just a stage and they will go back to napping for you.

I'm having the same problem with my two boys - it is absolutely driving me crazy! Nighttime is not a problem for us either, but I'm afraid it might be once we move the clocks ahead, which makes me nervous! I'm with you - I don't want to separate because I don't have another childsafe room, plus I feel that they need to learn to nap in the same room because that's where their beds are. My boys have been out of cribs for a long time, but we always just kept them on mattresses on the floor, so they couldn't get hurt. We just recently put the "big boy beds" in there, and they jump around like maniacs. It seems like the more I go in there and "scold" them, the more they do it. I really don't know what to do either. I tried the "supernanny" technique yesterday of just constantly putting them back in their beds, but after 45 minutes, I was so frustrated and I couldn't keep up with them. So, I gave up, which made me feel like such a failure. I was in tears - I felt like I had lost control, and my two year olds were in control of me. That's exactly what I DON'T want to happen. I keep thinking that it's just a phase, but I still don't think I should allow them to carry on like that. But, I just don't know how to handle it??

Don't they make pack n play crib tents? That's what I would do! I kept my gals in cribs + tents until they were a few months past 3 years old. They gave up their naps when they were put in toddler beds initially but are back napping again (thank god!).

Well I hung blankets over the shades and drapes to make it pitch black in their room today. I also taped construction paper to the inside of some of their windows. YEAH!!!! It worked!!!! It only took 15- 20 minutes for them to go down, and then they slept for 2 hours. It has taken upto 1.5 hours to get them to go to bed, and going into their room 4 times to put them back into their toddler beds. I'm hopin it goes smooth tomorrow also. So I guess darkness is the key!!!!

    Thank God!
