DD vomited a few times last Tuesday pm.....ever since then she does not want to eat.. she started drinking more, but her urine smells like ammonia... Last night, I gave her hot dogs for dinner, hour later, she vomited just once....and now today she is not eating and is just punky.....last week she had low grade fevers....(gave her hot dogs last week to when this all started) Drs. office seems to think its a virus.!!!...But Im not sure anymore....I dont know what else to do to try and get her to eat something...any suggesstions

If it's a virus then maybe the BRAT diet would work. If she got sick after you gave her the hot dogs both times maybe there is a connection. JMO. Good luck!

There are a few long-and-not-that-intense stomach bugs going around this season. One of my two had it, the other one never did, but it was like three weeks of feeling blah, not eating, throwing up occasionally. We didn't force foods, but we offered liquids constantly. And popsicles. And not watered down juice (needs the calories) with ice cubes. We didn't offer much milk, mainly juice and water.

To me, it sounds like she's mildly dehydrated on top of a stomach bug, that's why her pee stinks.

I agree it's probably a long drawn out virus. Push the liquids, or pedialyte, or popsicles, but don't push the foods. I also think the BRAT diet would be a good idea. Bananas, rice, applesauce and toast. Stuff like chicken noodle soup and other non-creamy soups are good because they add fluids. As long as you keep her hydrated with fluids, she'll be okay if she doesn't eat much.

Sounds like the virus we had around here a couple weeks ago. She'll make up for not eating when she feels better, but right now just focus on hydration.

You've gotten some great advice and I totally agree. We had it here as well and it's just no fun. We stuck to the BRAT diet as well and that seemed to really help, the juice seemed to weigh out the bananas so that was good :)

I hope she's feeling better soon :grouphug:
