so today has not been a good day for feedings. I do not know what the problem is...

seth has been taking about 4-5 ounces about every 3 hours and hannah has been taking 3-4 ounces about every 3 hours but today they are just not eating!

They act starving but then will only eat about 1-2 ounces then will either fall asleep (only for about 15-20 min.) or spit-up. Then an hour later they do the same thing. I tried making them wait a little longer so they will be a little more hungry but it still doesn't work.

Why is this happening and what can I do??? They have been fussy ALL day...I need some rest tonight!

    HELP!!!!!

They are 1 month old now!

Your ticker always confuses me! I was about to say, oh, probably teeth, thinking they are 10 months!

Ok, after that, my first thought is reflux! Spitting up, refusing to eat, are both signs of reflux.

Another thing could be milk protein allergy. The only symptom my DD had was gradually more difficulty with nursing and extreme fussiness. Hope it gets better soon

I agree with either reflux or milk protein allergy. I suggest getting in with your ped and ask about reflux. Meantime you can try using the gentle, sensitive or soy formula and see if that helps.

My dd is on reflux meds and the soy formula, the gentle didn't help, the sensitive still gives her gas, and we are on about day 3 of soy to see if it helps.

Reflux came to my mind first. Sit them up for 30 minutes after they eat in their chairs or swings and burp them a lot and see if that helps. If not contact your pedi you may have to switch formula.

We are already on enfamil gentlease (doc recommended) and taking axid for "reflux". It has helped...they were having alot of trouble in the beginning but now it seems to have come back???

    Any more suggestions???

    Thanks guys!! :)

Maybe she needs an adjustment in the dosage? We were on Axid, but I don't recall how weight sensitive it is.

sounds like a milk protein allergy with reflux, which is exactly what my daughters have. they both had the same exact symptoms as your LOs. I would call the doctor to have them tested right away especially if their symptoms have come back.

Definitely talk to your doc. We were referred to a GI for the reflux. They may also need prevacid..which is stronger than axid and can do wonders. Don't wait though, becuase reflux can get worse which will make it even harder as the days go by....one of my boys started the refusal to eat much and is barely eating...we have had to do an upper gi..etc. It sucks, but just maybe have your pedi refer you to a GI..they are great for reflux.
