Hi everyone, this is my first post. I have been reading different topics on here for a couple of weeks now and absolutely love the information given. We are 20 weeks prego with identical twin boys, so far so good. They are growing the same and I am doing great, until today. This morning I had sharp pains on my left side. Drank a couple of glasses of water and it has gotten a lot better. Now when I walk around the office, there seems to be a lot of pressure down there, almost like I am gonna explode. With my first pregnancy I remember feeling pains/aches at various times, just dont remember the pressure that I am feeling now. Please dont laugh! I know I am carrying twins so things will be a bit different, just wanted some advice from you guys!

    Thanks! sarah

:wavey: Sarah! Welcome to TS. Congratulations on your boys!!!

I'm happy to hear things are going great. I had alot of pressure from about 20 weeks on because I was getting big, and the pains and aches could be you growing? I would give your doctor a call just to be on the safe side and see what they say. :good:

We look forward to getting to know you!!!

Welcome to TS!! Glad to hear your boys are healthy!! About two weeks ago I started to get really bad cramps too (I was 20 weeks also) and I called my dr's office and they told me to drink plenty of water and to rest and not over do it! That seems to help! In the past couple of days I have really started noticing the pressure. Its a weird feeling but yes I think it is normal! Hope this helps! Best of luck to you!

Welcome to Twinstuff and congratulations on your pregnancy!!!

I would think it might be braxton hicks or growing pains? (round ligament?) Totally agree about calling your OB w/ any questions for peace of mind :)

First congratulations on your ID boys, they are a blast! Second, welcome to TS, this place is a wealth of knowledge and support through every stage of pregnancy and parenting so I am thrilled that you found us! Lastly I am sure you will soon see that know one will laugh at any questions that you ask because twin pregnancy really can take you by surprise. Absolutely put a call in to your OB, he/she may not want you on your feet so much anymore, it may be putting too much pressure on your body.

I don't think anything is normal in a twin pregnancy. I have pains everywhere one day, then they'll disappear the next day. It's definitely NOT normal... but normal to us.

Hi, I actually put a call in to my OB today because of similiar experience. I actually noticed since I've turned 20 wks. that my body started to feel much different experiences from the 1st tri. Well last night while I was laying down I noticed that my belly was aching. Not the horrible cramp kind of aching but it did feel uncomfortable and it hurt.I tried to sit up and get to the computer to get info. on what I possibly could have been experiencing before I rushed off to the E.R. After putting on my maternity belt and sitting at my computer for about 20-30 min. I noticed that I began to feel better.Because at 1st it ached in my lower abdomen & to the rght. side of my abdomen. When I described my experience to the nurse today, she told me that it was more than likely a growing spurt which causes growing pains from my belly stretching. Before she told me that she asked aseries of questions like if I'd been spotting or an abnormal amount of discharge...and my answers to those questions were no. So she concluded that it is a normal thing to feel discomfort or even some pain from the belly stretching.I also notice that my boys have been having a field day in my belly. When I lay especially on my left side they just won't stop.So I did feel comfortable with the answer that it was the boys making room. Also..I get alot of rest and drink plenty of water and I do not overwhelm myself with anything.I say to myself...if I am feeling this way rght. at 5 mths. I only can imagine what is to come. So we have to take care of ourselves and try to be smart enough to make it as comfortable as we can. That is why I don't want my dr. to have to put me on bedrest...I'm trying to eliminate any complication ahead of time. Take it easy! :bubble:

    Hi Sarah,
Congrats on identical twin boys. How exciting. I am currently at 33 weeks with fraternal boys, I started getting the pressure at around 24 weeks and my my Dr told me I needed to slow down and stop being super woman. She starting watching my cervix length very closely and by the time I reached 31 weeks, my cervix shortened to 2.1 and they really like it to be above 2.5 cm. I am now on moderate rest and have really slowed down but the pressure is unbearable. It sounds like you need to slow down a bit. Remember the health of your babies is the most important thing and you need to take it easy and ask for help when you need it.
I wish you the best and please keep me posted on how you are feeling.
    Kind wishes,
    Patty
