We finally had our 9 month appointment and Nevan fell a little on the charts in weight and Norah is OFF the charts in weight (not in a good way!) The both are 90%tile+ in height though. Head sizes are about the 75th percentile on Nevan and 50th for Norah. I'm slightly worried they weigh so little but they are nursing a ton and eating like champs! Anyone giving a pediasure type drink or a calorie enhancer to bulk up?
I'm not really sure. I guess you could... did the DR reccommend it or was he/she concerned at all? If the DR was worried, I wouldn't worry about it.
Mine are almost exactly the same stats as yours! (Same age, weight etc). My doctor is not too worried because they were born at 36 weeks, and they both look healthy (chunky thighs - little double chins). I think as long as they don't look too scrawny - you may not need to worry. Were yours born early?
Erica - at 10 mos my DD didn't even weigh 15 lbs and at a year she only weighed 17 (and is now probably only closer to 18) she eats like a PIG!!! (so does DS for that matter and he's only 21 lbs)...they are both 25th in height and DS is only 5th in weight and DD is not on the weight chart - pedi is not worried - they were peanuts at birth (3.5 and 4.5 at 36w) mine were never bf'ed either (so much for formula fed babies overeating and weighing more!) I think they're fine - my pedi isn't even mentioning the pediasure route - I think as long as they are eating well you don't have anything to worry about.
I wouldnt give them the pedisure because that just fills them up and they they wont want to eat food if you do want to give it to them offer it with their meals or as a snack so that they dont fill up on that and wont eat for you.
They were fairly average babies ( 8 and 6 lbs each) but they are just so skinny! They have the chunky thighs and double chins, its the whole percentile thing! I swear hearing your baby is off the charts is the WORSE thing to hear! I just panicked I guess. They are very long and lean like dh so the Pedi is not worried especially since she watched them nurse to check they were indeed eating and getting milk. Thanks ladies, you have saved me from looking to fatten them up. MIL suggested I give them Guiness Stout as that is what she gave DH when he was a skinny baby
