What a bummer!! I had these symptoms throught my ENTIRE pregnancy with my girls, I certainly feel your pain. :hug99:

Rolaids soft chews worked better for me than Tums. I wore Sea Bands on my wrists as much as I could. Also, chewing peppermint candies or lemon drops, sucking on a raw lemon, plain pasta with butter, and Decaf Iced Mocha Lattes from Dunkin Donuts (with whipped cream of course). Okay, so maybe the lattes did nothing other than make me smile, but still...

I remember those feelings SOOO well. Dh and I would go out to eat a lot and I remember many times I would stare at the menu and cry because there was NOTHING I wanted, yet I knew I had to eat. One of the worst things was that I never had any cravings the entire pregnancy, only tons of aversions. This was a new concept for me, because I never had a problem eating before!! :D

The good thing is that you are sooo close to the end.

What about trying the plain pasta with butter? That was one staple I could always get down and would stay down. Or how about some toast with peanut butter? I could eat that many times too.

The ones who tell you it's impossible are the ones who have never experienced it. I noticed I would get it REAL bad if I drank from our faucet at home. But if I had bottled Poland Springs water, I seemed to be fine. I'm convinced there is some sort of mineral (anyone know what that might be) that contributed to it.

I got heartburn from water also - and from air! LOL anyway if its that bad ask your doctor for prescription Zantac - its safe for pregnancy and it works!
I used to take a Zantac at night and 2 Gaviscon (an OTC acid reducer) with a big drink of water - it was the only way I could sleep!

Phenergan was working for me the last couple weeks, but the babies are pushing up on my stomach so much that even a little food makes me barf. I am going to have to talk to the Dr. about it.. I am so ready to be done with this whole thing!!

huuuum, I don't know about mineral but most cities add floride and chlorine to the water. that may be doing it

I used to take OTC Pepcid twice a day which helped for a while and now I'm on prescription Prevacid. But definitely give the OTC Pepcid or Zantac a try.

Two things have helped me--drinking milk, and the other one is a little yucky (but it takes care of my heartburn, at least the kind that lodges in my throat)--mixing a little bit of baking soda with water. Sometimes I'll just make a paste of it, or else you can mix some with more water and drink it down. It's kind of nasty, but it takes care of the acid fast!

About the water.....I don't think that there is something in it that gives you heartburn. I think it's the fact that you are trying to get anything down there at all. There's no room, and my stomach is up around my throat and it just seems to want to 'evict' anything I put in there. I find changing position and sometimes walking/standing a bit before I eat sometimes helps. Gravity keeps the twins lower and therefore there's more stomach room. I also find that I should not eat and drink right after. Have to wait 1/2 hour.
    Good luck

I had to stay on extra strength Zantac around the clock... and LOTS of ice cream!!! I remember only being able to take three or four bites of something every few hours - and I was so hungry! The good news is... it really does go away the minute you deliver! Hang in there!

I lived off of lemonade and barbecue chips. For some reason the sour made me feel better.

Definitely talk to your doctor maybe he can give you something for it that will work. I agree with pp, for me I think it was because there was absolutely no room left in there at that point! You don't have much longer to go, the end is always the toughest! :hug99:

oh, i SO remember those days.

actually the lemonade and barbecue chips is not surprising - a harvard study showed that the combination of lemonade and potato chips was teh MOST EFECTIVE food combo for preg. nausea! I should have bought stock in Newman's and Utz!

That is interesting to know about the chips and lemonade. Just to clarify we are talking about packet chips right not cooked chips ie salt and vinegar, cheese and onion etc etc.

I am unclear what heartburn is as I have a heart condition so cannot really tell the difference however my morning sickness was a pain in the behind. Now when I have it I end up dehydrated.
