Hi there, I'm 15w 4d with twins (my first pg) and I just nervous about my weight gain or should I say lack of weight gain.....I had really bad m/s till about 13 weeks and eventhough I've stopped throwing up, I still don't have an appetite and I have to force myself to eat! I've actually lost 13 pounds since before I was pg...and Ive maybe put on 2 of those pounds so i'm down 11 pounds...........is this normal? Should I be concerned?? I am quite overweight and I've heard that sometimes overweight women lose weight at the start of their pregnancy.....any thoughts???

I am overweight as well and I also lost weight at the beginning of my pregnancy. I didn't start to really gain until the last couple months. Don't worry, it will definately catch up to you! ;)

I lost 17 lbs due to m/s finally gained it back by 27 weeks and added more since then. Don't stress as long as the kids are doing ok.. I still have to force myself to eat as well.

I wouldn't worry. I lost weight during the first tri, then started to get my appetite back probably around week 15 or 16.

I was overweight at the beginning and didn't start to gain until week 18 due to morning sickness. I only gained 24 lbs and I was drinking protein shakes 3x a day and eating everything else under the sun. Doctors were never worried because babies always were doing good. Normally I gain weight thinking about food but I guess the babies took all the calories.

I only gained about 22 lbs during my twin pregnancy. If I were you, I would just talk to the doctor about your concerns on your next visit.

I wasn't overweight when I started with the girls - and at 15 weeks I had only gained about 2-3 lbs, and I did not have morning sickness. I ended up gaining a total of 76 lbs. all between weeks 26-36 when i delivered!!! I wouldn't worry to much about lack of weight gain now.

Now, with this one I am overweight (from the girls LOL) and am 18 weeks and have not gained an ounce. I did lose about 5 lbs. over x-mas holiday from a stomach virus, but quickly gained it back again after I started drinking fluids and eating again.

I've heard that overweight momma's are not supposed to gain as much anyways - that the baby can live off your current fat stores for quite some time. I'm banking on this to help me lose the rest of my twin weight (about 25 lbs) after #3 is born!!! LOL :)

I lost weight the entire time (with out the help of morning sickness) and from the time of my first appointment to confirm pregnancy to my 6 week check-up, I had lost a total of 27 pounds....from my pre-pregnancy weight.

I have done this will all of my pregnancies (except the first that I had pre-eclampsia with).......I am 6 pound lighter this pregnancy so far (only 8-9 weeks left to go until delivery)...

I only gained 19 lbs. during my pregnancy, even though I got epic-ly huge. My boys were born at 38+2, and Joel was 6 lbs. 5 oz, and Roman was 5 lbs. 13 oz. I went home from hospital 20 lbs. below my pre-pregnancy weight, so 40 lbs lighter than I went in.

Your babies will be fine--they WILL take what they need from you...mine sure did. :) Just make sure you take your vitamins, and eat as healthy as possible, but don't beat yourself up over not gaining "the right" amount of weight!

I wouldn't worry either. I started at 110 by 15 weeks I was down to 103. I couldn't keep anything down. Now at almost 29 weeks I am at 140! I would just take your pre-natal and eat what you can for now. I lived on Honey Cluster with strawberry cereal and English Breakfast tea for about 10 weeks.

I was in the same boat as you. I started off "plus-size". I only gained 17lbs through my entire pregnancy ... and I was drinking Ensure and Protein Shakes towards the end to try and get more calories in. My babes were born at 36w3d , 5lbs and 5.5 lbs. I came out of the hospital weighing less than when I got pregnant. My doc told me she wasn't worried because I had some extra padding (so to speak) ... hehe ... It was pretty funny that it was the only time in my life my docs were telling me to just eat more! No one has EVER had to say that to me!

I am still at my pre-preg weight at 19+ weeks and we had our anatomy scan and the babies are right on target for weight. I am also very overweight, too.

I understand your concern - I've been there myself - but I've been reassured by everyone that it's okay. I am sure you are doing well, too! :)

You girls have me cracking up. I am also a bigger girl. I am 17 weeks pg and have only gained 2 lbs. My doctors are happy with me since I don't need to gain. I would be so happy leaving the hospital weighing less then my prepregnancy weight!

Thanks girls,.....I feel sooo much better! I do have an appointment/u/s in a couple of weeks and I'll mention it to my doc. But Im glad to hear that its not all that unusual to not gain weight or to lose weight! I can relate to Jillangel as normally I just think of food and I gain weight.....but maybe the babies turned on my metabolism ;) I would love to come out of the hospital weighing less or the same as my pre-pg, that would be CraZy!! But knowing my body I'll be like you ladies who caught up later......and then I'll be laughing at myself saying what was I thinking!! Actually that was exactly what happened to me with m/s....early in the 1st tri I kept worrying that I didn't have symptoms and I thought maybe something was wrong cause I have a very weak tummy, and then BAM m/s hit me hard, I guess I should be careful what I wish for!!
