My girl Nefeli hasn't gained any weight in the past 5 months. Pedi isn't worried about this and attributes it to the fact that she's been sick alot in the past 3 months. I'm not sure this is ok though.
She's stayed at about 16 pounds (if I have my math right that should be the same as 7.5 kilos). In the same time she's gained 1.5 inches (4cm)
I know her being sick on and off decreases her appetite and also we tried cow milk the past couple of months and that apparently didn't agree with her (she was burping and spitting a lot), but still I'm worried.
Her sister is about a kilo heavier. i realise they are different people and if both were growing I wouldn't mind the difference but Nefeli seems stuck.
Is there something I should do? Should I be feeding her anything special? Is this ok?
Thanks for your help and advise.

If your paediatrician isn't worried, then I'm sure you should try not to (easier said than done I know).

When one of ours failed to gain weight for a while, we were recommended to try to make whatever they did eat fairly calorific. IE to put lots of olive oil or butter in/on whatever they're eating; to feed them sour cream instead of yoghurt (to the child that can eat dairy); to give peanut butter and hummous etc. I'm not really sure if it helped - she's still little and light - and I'm not too sure whether it really is healthy to feed them quite so much fat (I know they need a fair amount for proper development). So I'm not sure I'd recommend doing it. Particularly as your paediatrician wasn't worried.

Whenever ours have been sick they seem to go through a phase of eating a lot to make up for it once they're fully recovered. Hopefully it'll be the same with your little ones.

Maggie, my oldest, did not gain any weight between 2 to 2 1/2, but grew an inch. I think some kids just have a time when that happens. I know it's easier said than done, but if your pedi. is't worried, try not to worry yourself. Mine all do the eating to make up for lost time thing, too.

As long as she is growing in at least one way (height or weight) I wouldn't be worried. Sometimes they grow alot and then don't grow for a period and then grow alot again. We had this with Jessy and it is just how she is (she grew in height last time but didn't grow in weight and then grew a lbs and an inch the next weight check

Neither of my girls has gained since we went in about 6 months ago. They will be two next month and both weighed in at 22 1/2 pounds yesterday. They are both very active and very healthy. They keep getting taller but weight just doesn't seem to stick on them. We'll see the ped next month but he'll probably not be concerned since he wasn't when we went in 3 months ago. Like PP said, he's not concerned as long as they are growing in one way or the other.

My oldest didn't gain a single pound between his 2 year check up & his 3 year check up, but he grew height wise. If you doc isn't worried, it's probably fine. They all seem to go through stages where they just shoot up. One thing I have always notice with my kiddos, is they gain a little weight, and maybe evn look a little chubby for a couple of months, then they have a height growth spurt and it's like all the weight stretches out over that new growth!! I havemost recently noticed this in my 9 year old. He was looking a little thinck around the middle at the beginning of the summer, and then the other day he was waling around with just his football pants on & I can see his "6-pack" again. Not to mention all his jeans are too short!!!
