Also wanted to know if anyone gave "food" besides purees when their little ones didn't have teeth yet. I'm so afraid of them choking b/c they have no teeth yet, so they only have had cereals, and pureed fruits and veggies.

Most kids have teeth by then, but I know plenty of people whose kids didn't get their first tooth until 10 or 11 months. One person I know, her daughter was 14 months! They were getting ready to send her for dental xrays when she finally got teeth, and now she has gotten a whole bunch very close together. I would talk to your doctor about it, but I don't think it is anything to be worried about at this point.

It's totally normal. DD didn't get any teeth until after her 1st bday. (and i've been told my husband didn't get teeth until 14 months) It was a while ago but I remember still giving dd food on "schedule" for introducing them, just soft food. Cheerios for example disolve so babies can still gum them. Just keep to soft foods and purees until those teeth start coming in, there's no nutritional value lost. And you can give them cheerio-type foods for handling and working on their fine motor skills. It's a little early for finger food anyway, imo.

My daughter is 9 months, 8months adjusted and still has no teeth but her brother has 4. I work for a dentist and its completely ok that she doesn't have them yet, we don't start to worry until 18months. The common age range for teeth is 6-12months, some babies get them sooner like around 3-4 months some don't get teeth like the PP said until 14months.

I feed my daughter the same foods my son gets, i know how scary the thought of choking is but she eats everything just fine. Both are pretty much eating cheerio size pieces of any foods we eat. They absolutly love mandarin oranges, try those, they are very soft and gumable!

I will agree with pp, it's normal. All my kids got them 9 months and later... and then they just started to pop one after another... As far as food goes
    what she said.

DD just got her first tooth about a week ago. I wouldn't worry. Soft foods they gum are good-pasta, cheerios, some fruits, cooked veggies.

One of my girls didn't sprout her first tooth until just over 11 months. It's different for every child.

I was concerned about the same thing with the food. Our pedi explained to us that they use their gums to mash the food, not their teeth, so soft foods were fine (bananas, avacado, things like that).

Ditto pp's, it's nothing to worry about. Some children get them earlier and some later.

Luke didn't get his first tooth until he was 13 months and Naomi was 15 months! Their dad apparently got his teeth late as well so we think they got it from him. They did fine moving on from pureés to table foods, you'll be amazed what they can get through with just gums!

Every kid is different-so yes-it's fine to not have teeth. And most babies are gumming their food-in the back where there molars would be. The saliva helps soften the food. Most kids aren't using those four/eight front teeth to chew! :) Start small, and see how they do gradually!

My first was 11 months when he got his first tooth, and he's four now and totally normal (at least in the tooth department that is;) )

Ava and Addison were very late to get teeth. they were both over a year old. I even had thoughts of what if they had some kind of defect where they don't have teeth at all!! Once one popped through, they kept coming!

the girls each got their first tooth around 10.5 months & then didn't get anymore for ages. they did great with table foods. those gums of theirs are actually quite strong. the food did have to be soft but i was often surprised at what they could eat.

My son got his first teeth at about 9 months. He is 14 months now and has 7 teeth now.

While my daughter got her first at 6 months and by 12 months had 16 teeth (!) so I think every baby is different. I also heard that boys tend to get them later.

Both boys didn't get their first teeth until 12.5 months and it was their two bottom teeth. We tried giving them soft noodles but they would gag and choke on them so I have stuck with pureed things and things like cheese sticks, soft fruits and graham crackers...oh and they love animal crackers. :)

The boys are now 14 months and Alex has 4 teeth, his top and bottom and River has two bottom and 1 top. No chompers yet.

Mine didn't start getting teeth until after they were 9 months old and now one has six teeth and the other has four. It will happen! And they should be able to gum most foods but to be on the safe side, stick with softer foods until those teeth appear.

DD#1 didnt get her 1st tooth until 15 months. She ate everything all the kids her age did even without teeth. She did however get 6 teeth in at once lol.

The twins are almost 10 months & they dont have teeth either. They also eat pretty much everything for their age.
