I am fixated on getting a date for induction or c-section. Then I got thinking that the babies may have something else in mind. Did any of you who went earlier than your scheduled date or goal date, just suddenly go into labor with no warning? My cervix is still as it should be but I am wondering if that could just sudddenly change. Any stories of your own to let me know how things went for you would be great :D TIA

You sound like me. I begged the Dr.'s for a scheduled date. Finally at 34 weeks they scheduled me for 37 weeks for my c-section. I was so hot and tired and swelled up taht i wanted those kidders out before then. Starting at 35 weeks (and i dont recomend this - keep em in as long as you can) I washed my car everyday, took walks and went shopping all day. Anything to get them out. Nothing worked. Finally, i started contracting at my NST one day at 35+6 and they wouldnt take me b/c they werent strong enough. She said to call if they got stronger. I called the next morning after contracting every 4 mintues all night/day long. They got stronger and sure enough, they said to come in. My peri checked me and said i was a cm dialated and as much as I had begged them to take them earlier, he wasnt going to send me home and tell me no so he said that he wasnt goign to stop labor. I had them c-section at 36 weeks after goign into labor. They were a week before the scheduled date. The had different plans obviously. Born healthy and no NICU time - i was glad they were out though. Now, they're a blast! The c-section went fast and easy. Only problem i had was gas buildup - dont drink from a straw and walk whenever you can. Good Luckand i'll look forward to hearing your birth story.

With my first set of twins we kept putting the doc off when he wanted to talk about an induction,my lttle guys were both head down most of the time,so no talk of c-section,and we luckily had no other complications that warranted one. I worked up until 35 weeks, and actually only stopped then because I was worrying my patients.I work with geriatrics,at a veterans home to be exact. They were all very supportive, but all worried. We actually had an OB appt the day,and the doc was stressing an induction,DH was stressing if no health reason warranted we'd let them come when they were ready! Well wouldn't you know that night @ 1200 my water broke and we had to go in to hospital, the boys came in early am,just before 7am.No problems, both vaginally. They had their own time schedual.
This time,I'm hoping for vaginal again, but one likes the transverse position, and one favors head down.Hoping things go my way,but whatever is best for the babes I'll do.I am thinking about induction as these are big babes at last scan 7# 5oz,& 6# 8oz,with 2 more weeks to cook,I'll accept an induction in the 38th week if they haven't come on their own. My older son was 8# 15oz at birth,so I'm a bit nervous how big these could get.LOL

I didnt go into spontanious labor. But my Csection happened much sooner than I thought it would and it came as a complete surprize during a routine visit. My girls were born at 35 wks exactally because I was becoming preeclamtic. But all went amazingly well and we were outta there in 5 days!! You are doing great Momma 34 weeks WOO HOO!

I had an u/s the Wednesday morn before the babies decided they were coming. I was scheduled to have a dr appt the Thurs so we could make arrangements for a c-section as my DS was breech but when I got up Thurs morn to go to work my water broke. I was 34w and 3days and than required the er c-section. I never actually started labour but we had them 4hours later via c-section. In some ways it was good because I did not have a chance to worry about what would happen with a c-section. But in other ways I was not quite prepared and packing the bag as I was getting ready to go to the hospital quite the procrastination on my part. Kept thinking I had sooooooo much time.

I had an OB appt the day my water broke and actually had a vaginal exam because I was concerned about some frequent braxton hicks. My OB said my cervix was completely closed and not thinning out at all- no signs of impending labor. I went home, laid down, and the BH stopped until late that night when my water suddenly broke. That night in the hospital, after my water broke, I was contracting every 2-3 min and dilated to a 4 and my OB was shocked and kicking himself because he had been so sure nothing was going on. He had to life flight me to another hospital because I was too early to stay at our local hospital, so if he had seen anything suspicious at the appt that morning he would have done whatever he could have to prevented me from going into labor.

I was long and closed at 34 weeks and no PTL at all. Then suddenly 2 days before 36 weeks, my BP SPIKED without warning and off to the hospital I went at 36 weeks. He gave me 2 days to see if it would come down and then I went in and had my babies 2 days later. (C-section after being induced and not progressing) Those babies will stay in if they are going to and you are very lucky!! Just keep hanging in there. I know you hit a "wall" around 34 weeks, but it's important to keep going. 36 weeks 2 days bought my DD 11 days in the nicu - fyi! Others that had theirs a week before me (due date buddies) didn't have any nicu, so there is no rhyme or reason. Please hang in there and take good care of yourself!! :hug99:

My boys came on their own (as did their big sis!). I was 35w5d and so ready to pop! I rearranged the furniture in their room and was losing my plug that day. My water broke at 615pm and they came into the world just before midnite! I almost had them on diff days. That would have been cool. that being said, i wish i had kept them in a week or so longer due to Z's lack of latch on to nurse and jaundice. BUT no NICU and we all came home 5 days later.

GOOD LUCK! Hang in there a week or two more. I know how hard it is tho ;)

I'm right there with you -- I hit 38 weeks on July 2, so I am *obsessed* with scheduling an induction for that day, since both babes are head down at the moment (just found this out on Thursday).

Knock on wood, everything is still closed up tight with no signs of PTL, so I feel like there's no way these babies are going to arrive soon.....on the other hand, I'm petrified of being caught unprepared over the next few weeks! I really need to pack a bag....I have done all the babies' laundry, and the nursery has been ready for months, so we're good there....

My mom arrives on June 25, when I hit 37 weeks....and my daughter has swim lessons every day between June 18 and 22 with an instructor that's just impossible to get -- so I'm hoping the babies hold off until after that, LOL.

But, the minute my mother gets here, you'd better believe I'm going to be eating fresh pineapple and eggplant parm from Scalini's (a local restaurant that guarantees that dish will start labor), driving over speed bumps, etc. Heck, I may even make my DH do the deed -- LOL -- although I have no idea how THAT will work!

Anyway, I hear ya -- these last few weeks are so tough, between wanting the babies to come, thinking they won't, being prepared for the worst, and yet having an eviction date scheduled.....it's all messing with my head, frankly! (Can you tell I'm not a go-with-the-flow type of person? Doesn't bode well for raising twins, LOL.)

Oh, and my DD arrived on her own ON her 40-week due date three years ago -- which really worked for me. :D

Great to hear stories! Give me more:)

It isn't that I want them out because I know it is way too early BUT Dh is traveling the weeks I am 35 and 37 weeks and is in a training when I am 36 weeks that he can not miss. So, the sooner we have a date, the sooner he can make arrangements to be here for the delivery. Like many things, I have no control and need to take a deep breath and control the things I can. Thanks for the responses and any others would be appreciated!!

I wanted to add that I have my sister, neice and cousin here to help (cousin is here now giving me extra time to rest while she tends to my toddler) when I hit 37 weeks. I am hopeful we can make it until then because then Aidan is going to be taken care of, as will the babies and me when we return from the hospital.
