No schadenfreude in this house!

The new thing from Bea is "Ainsley not laugh when I'm sad!" OK, it was SO hard for me not to bust up laughing when she said that. Of course Bea has like 20,000 fits a day, and everything is so dramatic for her. So Ainsley better stop laughing!

ummmm - yeah - i get "aweesha NO can talk to me!" when cameron is upset (emotional drama queen that he is) - i swear she TRIES to annoy him and plays on how emotional he is - about half the time it ends in them both giggling though!

You made me laugh. I'm sure we're headed down the same path at my house. Maybe schadenfreude is better than misery loving company? I don't know...

Oh, I hate to tell you this, but it gets worse. Aaron LOVES to taunt his brother. Jacob is a whiner and Aaron mocks him mercilessly. It leads to some spectacular fights...

Oh I am so glad we aren't the only ones!!!

Connor gets really mad when the kids laugh when he is upset. Joy is always laughing. She is a very silly child. So the other night at the table he got in trouble and she was giggling. Finally Connor said, "Does Joy's name really mean happy?" I said yes. So then he said, "I wish you'd named her grumpy!" I just cracked up!

That's how Ainsley is, she's just a happy kid so sometimes when she's laughing while Bea's throwing a hissy fit, it has nothing to do with Bea, she's just being happy. But the whole world has to stop when Bea's upset! But yeah, sometimes Ainsley is laughing at Bea because she's being so dramatic. :eyeroll:

We get the SAME thing here...."Emma no laugh at me!!" from Maddy when she is upset (though she is funnylooking if she is rolling the ground and/or getting her odd looking grumpy face on)....it is funny but sad since she is so sincere!!

Boy, that's a no-win situation! I have a hard enough time not laughing myself when someone has a fit -- there's no way I could keep the other kid from laughing.

I find myself saying "Just ignore her" a lot, even though I know it doesn't really work at this age. But there's no way I can keep Sarah from saying "No Amy!" 10 times a minute, or any of the other things Sarah does to intentionally tick Amy off. Sarah gets upset at Amy often enough too, but I get the sense that Amy doesn't do it on purpose as much as Sarah does.

 I so hear you all!!!! The boys are constantly at each other. I keep reminding them how lucky they are to have a twin but they're not buying it-lol!!! I think most of it right now is their age. They start 1st grade next month and we have separated them. They were together in kindergarten. I wanted to keep them together but have realized that they really need their separate time and their own friends and not always be known as "the twins". I think being in separte classes will be good for them- when they come home they can tell each other about their day. They really do love each other (though they'll deny it!!)- I hear them talking in bed at night (I still use a monitor because Alex has very bad asthma and a history of seizures) and when I hear them say I love you to each other it melts my heart (this is after they have called each other names and told the other one they cannot be their twin anymore-lol!!!) . Sometimes I find them in bed together and it is so cute and I leave them that way. I go in there every night to watch them sleep and I take pictures of them together because they look so darn angelic!!!!!! I'm glad my twins are not the only ones who torment each other!

This has been the hardest part of parenting for me recently (refraining from laughing when it will encourage continued bad behavior or kick them when they're already 'down').

I figure even if I can't laugh aloud at least it is some kind of entertainment payback for all the other crap we put up with. ;) If it wasn't for the cute & funny stuff to buoy me between disasters/tantrums I think I'd have drowned in toddler-parenting psychosis long ago.
