I put the girls to bed tonight without pacis. I was a little nervous but they went to sleep fine. There was a little crying but it was very short lived. I usually have to go in and replace a paci in the middle of the night for one of the girls so we'll see how that goes tonight. I hope this isn't too painful. I can't wait to be done with pacis!!!!!!

Nice, let us know how it went. I am thinking about giving them up also, but I am not sure if I am brave enough yet. Good luck, I hope all goes well and easy for you.

Last night was night two and there was some fussing but nothing terrible. They spent some time at my IL's house yesterday and she gave them pacis she has. They don't care for her pacis and they didn't nap though so I don't even count it. lol We'll see how today goes with nap time. This is going to be the tough one.

Now if I could just get them to take a stinkin sippy cup!!!!!

You are braver than I! LOL! Glad it seemed to go relatively well. Good luck with naptime.

As for the sippy cup....have you tried a straw cup? Or a cup with no handles? My boys never grasped the cups with handles... I think possibly because their bottles didn't have any. As for the straws, they say straws are better for speech development, etc. I could never figure out how to teach the boys to use a straw. LOL! Give them a juice box-and watch out! They picked up on it INSTANTLY! It's a little trick I learned from some wonderful ladies on here! :)

Glad its going so well! I ditched it with Hannah at 6.5 months bc I knew it would be harder as she got older!

As for the sippy cup, I agree, mine all love straw cups and seem to best with the Munchkin brand ones. But I taught Hannah to use a straw at 7.5 months using *THIS* cup...she still loves it;-)

That's a cool looking straw cup! I'm going to look for it. My next step was going to be straw cups and those Toss & Keep sippies. For some reason a couple of the kids caught on to those easier. Not sure why.

Good luck on ditching the pacis! Another painful milestone  I am sure it won't be long before they forget they exist!

We also have the straw sippy cups that MrsWright recommended, they are great, that's how my babies learned to drink. We also have the nuby straw cups, but they don't like them as much. I recommend the Playtex one.

We went cold turkey on the paci too a few weeks ago. They really were not to "hooked on them all that much. I just was sick of the paci game of getting up all night to give them. They went to sleep fine with out them and then when they woke I let them CIO and it lasted a day or 2 and that was it. I am glad to be done with them too! Good luck!
