Is it weird, considering all of the problems that I'm having with these babies, that I'm not having NSTs? I haven't asked the doctor cause I really haven't thought about it... and he does a BPP as part of the ultrasound every single week, so maybe he just doesn't see a need to do it?

He is a very competent doctor (the peri that I see every week) and I've been very impressed with him... so I'm not doubting him, just wondering if I should ask him about it?

I didn't have NSTs till 31 weeks. If you are having BPP every week, then I assume they are getting all the information they need from that. If you feel like you want to add NSTs then mention it to your DR and see what he has to say.

I had my first NST at 29 weeks due to my issues with PTL. Once I was discharged I didn't have any for a couple weeks but then started them weekly at 32 weeks. You could mention it, it might just be an oversight. For me it was that my OB thought my Peri was sending me and my Peri thought my OB was sending me. My Peri actually came chasing after me after an appointment when he realized he didn't see any results in my file. That was when he told me I should schedule them weekly.

I've been on bedrest since 24 weeks due to PTL and I didn't start having NST's until 32 weeks. And even now I have one a week scheduled and a second 'on call' if the girls don't pass their weekly BPP's. So I'd say as long as you are getting good BPP results there probably is no reason for the NST's just yet.

I didn't have my first NST's until week 36 and 37 (I actually made it).

With the twins, my NST started around 28 weeks. I know that the early ones were difficult to keep a HB on and it was very frustrating. I am sure yours will start in a few weeks.

I never had an NST. And only one ultrasound. My pregnancy was not high risk, though (other than the fact that I was carrying two babies).

If you'd like an NST, I'm sure your doc would comply. It's definitely not out of the question or beyond reason.

My dd only had one at 35 weeks and she also had di/mo twins like you. She was seen weekly by the peri who did bpp's and did not feel it was neccesary to do the NST's.

It's just different for everyone. I have BPP and NST's done 2X weekly! They started at 27 weeks. They did tell me that they normally don't start NST's until 30-32 weeks though because earlier than that is hard to keep the babies hb's on and get a good strip reading on them. HTH!!

Definitely inquire about it - but I, too, was told that it's difficult to get a good read on the monitors with babies before the 30 week mark. I've been having them 1-2 times weekly now and I can attest to that! First NST was around 29 weeks and we have to shove those monitors into my stomach to get the little heartbeats. And hold them there for 30-45 minutes! So, they might be just waiting...

I had my first NST around 27 weeks due to PTL issues (mostly to monitor my constant contractions and to make sure that it was not affecting the babies). But I was hospitalized soon after, and had constant monitoring while on hospital bedrest. When I was sent home at 32 weeks, I had a home-health care nurse come and give them to me here at my house. She came twice a week.

It doesn't seem too unusual, considering you are still fairly early. But I would ask.

I haven't had one yet (at 32 weeks) and no indication from my doctor that I'll get one. He hasn't even mentioned it and neither have I. I haven't had any issues with my pregnancy other than GD though, so I'm sure if I needed one he'd bring it up. I'm sure with your docotr being competant, he'd let you know if you needed them. Good Luck!

I started taking a NST weekly at 32 weeks.
Now I'm taking them twice a week to monitor decels in Baby B.

I'll be 30 weeks on Sunday and I haven't had any NST's yet - but may inquire this week at the office

I had them starting at 28 weeks I think....Originally she had said 30 weeks. I hated them - becuase they took forever and I had to do them 2x a week.

Again, you are a little early for them, I would expect you would start them in a few weeks.

I had PTL issues at 33 weeks and the OB had me schedule NST's 2X a week after my release-I was monitored at the hospital every 4 hours after the PTL was considered stopped to make sure things were okay. He told me 2X a week NST's are standard for twins starting at 32 weeks for their practice-oops, somehow forgot to get that scheduled for me! I had an NST and amnio check once a week at the clinic downstairs from the OB's office and then an NST along with my regular OB appt. We did have concerns for one of the girls due to being non-reactive during the NST-not enough jumps on the paper strip. It was at that point that I was sent over to the hospital for a BPP-that seemed to provide more detailed info than the NST, so some OB's may just use them.
