I have been in the hospital since November 10 due to a short cervix and funneling (and of course pre-term labor). I am 31 weeks today and I don't know how much longer we can hold out since the contractions keep coming more and more each day. I know just making it this far as helped our little girls so much. I have also read so many positive stories on this board that keep me going every day. Thanks for sharing all of your stories! I guess my latest question is how early have some of you delivered and your babies not had to spend time in the NICU? I know every situation is different but I would just like to hear some more successes. Thanks!

I delivered at 35 weeks and 5 days. We had absolutely no NICU time. The only problem that my girls had was keeping their body temps up so we had to swaddle, keep socks and hats on at all times for the first few weeks.

Congrats on making it as far as you have!!

I've heard that 35 weeks is a great milestone when it comes to NICU, or lack of. I had mine at 38 weeks (7.5 lbs each) and no NICU time. Good luck! I hope you can keep going!

My daughter was born at 34 weeks 3 days and spent no time in the NICU, all though she was checked over by the NICU team. She was 5.3 pounds at birth.

I have no answer for you but I wanted to say that you and your babies are in my prayers for them to hang on as long as they can, and that for whenever they do come that they will be super healthy :)

I delivered A and A at 35 weeks to the day. We had no NICU time but were in the hospital for five days, so momma could heal from her Csection and because baby girls had jauntice. I am hoping to make it to 36-37 wks this time around.

PS.. Ashley nearly had to be flown to a bigger hospital within hours of birth but was given surfactant in her lungs and was breathing on her own within 12 hours I got to hold her 24 hours after birth, Alyssa also received some oxygen but was nursing within hours.

ETA: Ashley was 5lbs 6oz and Alyssa was 5lbs 4oz both 19inches long and healthy screamers! LOL

Oh and ONE MORE THING... ditto the above, we also had to have swaddled babies and hats on always because they were not keeping up their body temps.

Mine were exactly 37 weeks, after 14 weeks of bedrest and contractions that the terbutaline couldn't stop. Like PPs they checked them over in the NICU because they were tiny babies (4 lbs 13 oz and 5 lbs 1 oz), but both were rooming in with me a few hours later and they came home 2 days after they were born. I hope you are able to hold out a little longer, but I'm sure you're babies are in good hands at this point and will do wonderfully. Good luck!

    I delivered at 37.5 weeks.
Chloe was 4lbs 11oz and Sydney was 6lbs
    No NICU time :good:
Chloe needed to stay swaddled & under the 'heater' in our room for the first 24 hours to keep her body temp up though.

I delivered 35wks and 3days with NO NICCU time!! Baby A weighed: 5.13 and Baby B weighed: 4.12
The only issue we had is Baby B had a drop in sugar one night, we supplemented with formulat that night and he was just fine. babies both developed jaundice but from what I understand that is very common...boys are doing great!

Good Luck! You've already passed the 28milestone, which is a biggie for development...32wks is the next milestone, and as the PP said, 35wks, everyone cheers!

Your doing a great job, it must be very difficult...keep up the good work!!

No NICU, but mine were full term at 38w2d (induction) and close to 8lbs a piece. I think getting to 34-35 weeks will be the minimum you have to get to in 95% of the cases.

    Good luck.

I had my girls at 35 weeks and only one (Ruby) had 10 days NICU time as a feeder and grower. She was just lazy and didn't want to eat on her own :) but other than that she was totally fine. They weighed 5lbs. (Ruby) and 5.8lbs (Scarlet). Good luck!

34.4 weeks and no NICU time... babies were 4.8 and 4.13 and were in the regular nusery for a few extra days to make sure they could eat and hold temps.

I delivered at 36.1wks w no NICU time for either baby both weighed 4.14lbs. The hospital didn't even have a nursery so they literally never left our room! They were perfectly healthy and champion nursers and we went home 3 days after birth. Good luck

My boys were 35weeks with only 1 1/2 days in the NICU because they were having trouble regulating their body temperature. Other than that they were perfectly fine. Don't worry! Your babies will be here before you know it and they will be healthy.

Keep us posted on your progress!

Thanks for all of your replies. Keep those successes coming! I know those of us on bedrest love to hear success stories! Last night was really rough. It was the first time I thought we weren't going to be able to stop the contractions. Luckily we finally did! The problem is that my cervix is basically gone now and the funnelling is way worse now too. At this point we are just hoping to make it to at least 32 weeks. Thanks again for all of the replies!!!!
