I didn't think I would ever be able to post this message, so without further ado I am pleased to announce that Katelyn and Blake are officially paci free!

And I can actually say that is was SO easy for us! Which is NOT what I was expecting at all!

So I will share our story for those of you contemplating...

Last Monday (a week and a ½ ago), Katelyn lost her paci at my moms house. We could not find it and I said no big deal-we have one at home. Well, when we got home I could not find it so I just said well lets give it a shot. She asked for it a couple of times- and I said you lost it at grandma's- you are a big girl now and do not need it anymore. She kept asking for it but never really cried or carried on and went to sleep quite easily. (My mom did end up finding the paci at her house, it was under the couch and I told her to throw it away!) The next day she barely asked for it and again we had no issues. The third day was actually our roughest- but we got through it. She asked for it quite a bit, did not take a nap and had a hard time going to sleep that night. I just kept comforting her and saying, "you are a big girl now and remember we lost it" and then tried to redirect her attention. But from that day on she never really asked for it again and she has been fine ever since.

By Saturday I started feeling guilty that Blake still had his paci and thought this is not fair (even though he was WAY more attached to his than her!) and kind of felt bad for Katelyn (even though she did not want "Blake's" paci- he did offer it up a couple of times!). So we decided we would take his away on Monday. So on Monday, I had my mom do the dirty work when it was time for him to take a nap-- she told him that is was lost and maybe Kasey (their dog) had taken it. (I know this is bad!) He went to sleep with no issue! When he woke up though he had a huge meltdown and was literally to the point of throwing up, I felt terrible as I was picking them up to take them home when all this was going on. When he finally calmed down he kept saying that Kasey took it outside and put it in a hole!! When is was time to go to bed he asked for it twice and then fell asleep! Since then he has pretty much barely asked for it and is napping and sleeping fine too.

I am shocked that is was really this easy (and am knocking on wood that things stay OK!) I am so glad it went down this way, as I thought it was going to be this really traumatizing event.

So for all of you out there-- there is hope!! :)

Good for you! :a_smil09: I love not having to deal with them and I am so glad they are gone! I'm amazed you only had like two of them, I think I gathered about 15 of Ainsley's and 10 of Bea's when we ditched them.

Thanks ladies. They continue to do great and really our only issue is that they just take a lot longer to fall asleep at night-- but it is not bad at all, since they are not crying or whining or anything. They just talk to each other or read their books! But I really cannot believe that Blake has barely asked for his! I just wish you all could have seen how attached he was to that thing lately.

The best thing now is they sometimes say, "no more pacis, no more blankies, no more diapers mommy!" So, I think they were ready and just "get it" now!

And yes Kelly-- we were down to 3 pacifiers combined-- one for Katelyn, one for Blake and an extra. I had been telling them for awhile now that if you lose it there are no more... if you bite a hole in it, there are no more, etc... LOL
