No more cervix checking after 35 weeks.

I had my 35 week appointment yesterday and I told the dr that I had been having a few contractions. So he said no more checking and we will just wait for something to happen, if nothing happens by Jul 22 , I have my scheduled c-section planned.

I just wish I knew if something was happening or not. Is this the norm not to check anymore?

 

My peri stopped checking the length of my cervix using the u/s wand thing after like 28 weeks...then, it wasn't until I was 36 weeks that they checked with their finger for dilation/effacement. They offered to do it at today's appointment, but I declined it. At this point, dilation and effacement mean diddly squat...women can walk around dilated to 3 cm for WEEKS so it doesn't really mean much in terms of when labor will begin. So, I think it's normal for them to quit checking...at this point, delivery is relatively safe and there's not a whole lot they can do anyway...

 

My MFM stopped checking at 33 weeks. Said if i went into labor, then so be it. i didnt though. Carried to 38.2 weeks and had a sheduled c section.


Kenneth and Ian are 2 months, 1 week and 5 days old

 

My MFM also did it for the last time yesterday, at 33 wks. I believe my OB will do it one last time next week, at 34 wks.

 

Once I went into PTL they stopped checking my cervix. They told me they didn't want to mess with anything down there, and potentially cause more harm than good. Keep up the good work Momma! You are doing a great job!

 

Sounds normal! I think I was last checked at 35 weeks, and had a section at 37.

 

I went in today and they told me they were going to stop checking as well, I requested the check today because I want my DH to go up north this weekend to enjoy a few days of laying in the sun before the babies come.

 

ok thanks, this waiting game is making me crazy. I am so worried something is going to happen and I will not be ready. EEK!
