OMG!! Whats going on here...???!!! My DD is hitting everything for no heason. I just dont understand. She just walks up and hits her sister in the head over and over again.. she also hits me and and her twin... This is rediculous.. at least she isnt biting any more. But this hitting is getting out of hand.. What should i do? We have done the whole be gentle and taker her hand and rub.. its just not getting thru her little head.. shes pretty stubborn.. grrr! im loosing my mind!
So frustrating! The boys are doing that too, but I assume it's because their older brother hits them and they copy everything he does. I usually just try to deflect it if they try to hit me. Then, I hold their arm and firmly say "no hitting." We did the "be gentle" thing with our two year old and it helps some, but not much. The problem is, you're kind of stuck because you don't want to slap their hand and tell them not to hit you. And, at this age, you can't exactly put them in time-out. She'll get it, you just have to be consistent, which means staying on top of things, even when she hits her siblings.
Have you tried giving her things she CAN hit, like pillows, couch cushions, etc? When one of mine is doing something off-limits, like banging a toy on a window, what really helps is to say, "Why don't you bang the floor, or the table, or the wall instead?" They happily get busy doing that instead.
