At the boys' 6 month WBV, their pediatrician said she'd see them in 6 months. I guess I'm just used to going to the doctor, because I was surprised that she didn't want to see them at 9 months. Is it normal to go from 6 months to 12 months without a visit? They've never needed to come in for anything other than a WBV.

At our 6 month appointment we were told we'd be seeing the doc next when they are 9 months old.

I never realized how much variation there is. At 6 months, we switched from monthly to every two months.

Our boys saw the pedi at 6 mo, 9 mo, and will see him again at 12 mo. I'm surprised your pedi didn't want to see your babies at 9 months too.

I think our pedi saw ours at 9.5 mos but there was no shots at that visit - perhaps since there's no shots the doc feels they're healthy enough to skip?

We have a 9 month visit. No shots scheduled for that visit. Our insurance company covers a 9 month visit as a wellness benefit, so it is paid at 100%. I assumed everyone had them. It is weird how different these things are.

We had a 9 month visit. There were no scheduled shots, but mine two did have to get some shots since they are on a delayed schedule.

We didn't have a 9 month WBV either. And we had been to the doctor many, many times by the time they were 6 months! But those were all temporary illnesses -- the kids were essentially healthy as horses -- so I guess the doc thought it wasn't necessary.

Our was 6 mo, 9 mo, 12 mo, 15 mo, 18 mo, 2 year. So, we don't go to every 6 mo until 18 mo. I remember being disappointed when we didn't have a 1 mo visit, and my friend did...we only went 2 week, 2 mo, 4 mo, 6 mo, etc. I know there are differences between practices - I wonder if anyone sets a standard?

Our WBV schedule was 2,4,6,9, &12 months, 15, 18, & 24 months. Unless there are any illnesses, my pedi will not see the kids again until they are 3. I don't believe we got any shots at the 9 month visit but the flu ones at the time. I am always surprised about the difference in pediatricians and what they recommend.

Normally if you are UPD on shots and healthy kiddos, the 9 month visit doesn't need to occur. It used to be the only thing they would do would be some developmental tests and to check anemia. They pushed the developmental tests back to 18 months for a better set of criteria, but I'd wonder about the anemia check since at that point they're starting to eat more and drink less formula so their bodies don't get as much iron. (Unless you're on WIC, where the anemia is checked regularly.)

If my pediatrician said no visit, I'd be happy!! I personally thought the 9 month visit was a waste of time, but then it turned out that Royce was anemic.

Our pediatrician says he only schedules a nine month visit if weights are a concern. We were told to come back at the one year mark, so we are skipping the nine month one. Our babies will be 8 months old in two days and they each weigh over 20 pounds. Egad!

We always did 2, 4, 6, 12, 18, 24 months, then 3 years and then not until 5. So, no, I don't think it's unusual. My doctor always said she would do well checks in between those times if I felt it was necessary for some reason, but the scheduled visits worked out fine for us.

We have done (1 week after NICU release- so it was right around 2 months old), 4 months old, then 6.. We have an appointment for 9 months old, but I have found out that it is optional. Since we have military insurance and it's 100% covered we are going to go. Plus we are going to moving when they are about 11 months old, so I will try to see their pedi one last time at 11 months right before we move to be safe. Then we are going to Colorado to visit for a bit before we actually get moved to California where we will have to set up all the medical stuff so they will probably be a little late on their 12 month.

We saw our pedi at 9 months but there were no shots, only a finger prick to test iron levels.

We saw the physician at 9 months. No shots but were given a finger prick to check for anemia. Both checked out ok. We are schedule to go back at 12 months.
