my babies are 2 months old, drinking 4 ounces every 3/4 hours. They are on the slow flow nipple,
should I change it to medium? I use playtex bottles that have only slow/fast but I have also
purchused the medium flow from other brands.
Lately, they have both been waking up hungry after 2 hours, should I increase the amount of formula?

If they are taking the whole 4 ounces pretty quickly each time I would go ahead and try to increase it. My girls have always only eaten as much as they want and stop when they are full. I think I went to a faster flowing nipple around 4 or 6 months.

Mine started eating 4 oz every 1.5 - 2 hrs since they were 3 wks old on the slow flow nipple. Recently we've upped the oz to 4.5 normal bottle [still with slow flow nipples] and two bottles [first night time one and after first nap] with 5.5 oz which has med flow nipples.

Mine stop eating once they are full too. If it seems like they're having to stress to eat from the slow flow, I'd suggest going to the mediums. Mine do pretty well with both. I find that they collapse the nipple of the slow flowing ones sometimes though. I'm thinking about just getting mediums for all the bottles.

    Hope that helps a little.

Playtex has a medium flow nipple now. Hard to find, but they sell them at BRU.

We switched nipple flows when they got really fussy with feeding, or took a really long time to finish their bottles. I think it was around 4 months, and then again around 6-7 months.

If they're finishing their bottles easily, go ahead and up it. We did 1/2 oz increments, and if they finished that consistently, we'd up it a little more. We basically always aim to leave about 1/2 oz in the bottle, so we know they got their fill.

Ditto - it was pretty obvious when they got frustrated with the nipple and we needed to move up a level. Also when you do switch give them a day or two to adjust to the new flow.

We did the same thing as cat419 with how much to feed them.
