My questions is to those that have twins already. What is the best thing to do with feedings at night? I have been told two different things. One is to wake the second baby and feed at same time to get them on the same schedule. The other is to just feed at different times when they each get up. What is your suggestion?

We always woke the other one up, otherwise you risk being up all night when they get up at different times. Just made it easier for us.

    How old are your twins?

The reason I ask is we woke the other one when the boys were under 6 or 8 weeks. I can't remember when we stopped doing this... but at a certain point we stopped waking the other boy. And, I found that they always got back on the same time schedule anyway. So, I think getting them on the same schedule by waking the other when the first one wakes is good up to a certain age. Then it's good to let them start to learn to sleep longer. Just my experience.

We woke the other one until they were 5 months old. By then then were both eating only once during the night, and I didn't mind getting up a total of 2 times. Also, by that point I wanted to see how long they could each go without eating. Now (at 6 months) we do not feed them in the night, so it's not an issue.

We also woke the second one up, until DD started STTN, then we would let DS sleep as long as he wanted or--when DH had to get up very early for work--DH would wake him and do a feeding.

I would wake the second one up if the first one was up and eating over night. I stopped around 3 months old when they both started sleeping through the night.

I'm just curious what STTN means?

STTN - sleep through the night

I always woke the other when one woke to eat. I found if I didn't I was just getting up & down all night long!

In the beginning we would wake up the other one as well. To keep them on the 3 hour schedule. This worked great for us. Especially if your DH is helping with the feedings. Now, my LO's are close to 4mos and we are ALMOST STTN!! Woo Hoo!! So they have a bed time bottle around 8 - 8:30 and then not another till they wake up around 5am.
