The boys have a bottle just before bed and W prefers to have his bottle in bed. If we are up he would rather be playing around. DH thinks I am starting a bad habit. He doesn’t fall asleep with the bottle and we always take it away when he is done. What do you all think?

I think as long as you are taking it away from him before he falls asleep, I don't think you are starting a bad habit. I think when he gets a little older, I might start giving him the bottle in his room but not in the crib. Good luck!

I think it's a bad habit... they should really have their teeth brushed before bed.

I agree - bad for their teeth! Saying that we only just changed our routine a couple of months ago so the teeth brushing came last.

I think that it could lead to a bad habit and I agree that it's bad for the teeth. I used the bottle before bed time as good quality snuggle time with my boys.

I guess it is a 2 part issue. The teeth brushing - which I could do after he finishes his bottle since he doesnt fall asleep with it. And the potential habit of "needing" a bottle in bed - I am probably more concerned with the habit part of it.

We quit bottles cold turkey at 12 months. DS had a rougher time with it because he needed a bottle to relax/fall asleep. I switched to a sippy cup of water, and he's adjusted fairly quickly too.

I think it would cause a bad habit because then he'll always expect and want that bottle at night.

I agree with the others that it is bad for his teeth and will form a bad habit that will be hard to break the bigger he gets.
