My twins are 4 mo today and are EBF. I have been having bad night sweats and am so hot at night. Ill wake up to find my sheerts soaked and feel so hot. Im freezing everyone out of the house by turning the ac down at night.

Is this a normal hormonal thing with breastfeeding? Will it ever go away while breastfeeding? Is there anything i can do prevent the sweats as it is causing me trouble sleeping.

It happened to me starting midway through my singleton pregnancy and continued until I stopped breastfeeding. I have no advice, I just dealt with it! And changed my sheets A LOT.

I know that sweating after giving birth is one way that your body gets rid of all the extra fluids from pregnancy but I hadn't realized it was also connected to breastfeeding. I found a bit about it at Baby Centre: http://www.babycenter.com/0_postpartum-sweating_11720.bc

From a few other threads on other sites I found, it sounds like it does eventually even out. The theory seems to be that as prolactin production stabilizes, your body adjusts. In the mean time, make sure you're drinking lots of water & staying hydrated - that will help by keeping extra fluids moving through your system rather than needing to be sweated out.

Hmm, I've been a human incubator since I was pregnant. I'm glad it's probably hormonal. Something I do is start at the head of the bed (with the fan blowing at the foot) then after I feed her I flip so my head is getting the full effect of the fan.

I looked at it as my early warning system I would always get hot and start sweating right before my nursing babies woke for a feeding. After they weaned, I would still get warm if one of them was awake, like radar. I've been hot for 13 yrs now...
