Last night Jackson screamed in his sleep. It lasted maybe 30secs and then was over. From what I could tell he did not wake up. He woke up this morning around the usual time. Has this ever happened to your babes? It scared me half to death!

Yes. Ana has night terrors sometimes. It started when she was a couple months old. I have night terrors and they can be inherited. Sometimes she doesn't even open her eyes and other times we find her standing in her bed, eyes open, screaming. She isn't awake though. No advice, just :hug99:. Hopefully this was an isolated incident.

Ryan does this occassionally as well. All of a sudden he will just start crying or screaming and just before you know it, it stops and he never wakes up.

Charlotte does this from time to time. In fact, she had a short episode of it last night at 3 am.

I think I read some place that babies can do this as they transition through different sleep cycles...

Yes, we had 2 or 3 instances of this. It is very scary. We havent had any for sometime now. Thank goodness. Maybe they outgrow it?

Annalise will cry in her sleep and stop after 10-20 seconds. It always makes me panic for a second and listen close. It's almost never a case where she wakes up though.

One of my boys cries out in his sleep regularly. When we hear his voice we always wait a second before getting up since he's sometimes sound asleep when you get to him. I don't remember when it started, but it's been going on for a while.

This happened to our Lucas about a month ago when we were at my parents house. He had been introduced to quite a few things that day so we were thinking the dreams were related to that. It happened for a few days at night and during naps and hasn't happened since. I thought it was night terrors but my mom said that usually starts when they are older--not sure it thats trues.

My son had night terrors, usually due to lack of sleep. If he skipped a nap or was overly tired, he would have them at night. You're right...they can be so scary. I've read to let them cry without picking them up and just to make sure they are safe in their beds. But, I could never do that and hated to just watch him scream. The problem is that he didn't wake up until he was ready. We actually would take him outside in the winter and the blast of cold air would wake him. During the warmer times, I've heard to put the baby in front of an open refrigerator door.
My son is now 3 and hasn't had them in a couple years. I think it's something kids outgrow.

:hug99: becasue those episodes can be really scary. We have those here sometimes, and as a PP said, are more likely for us when the girls are overly tired. If they keep happening, one tip is not to try and comfort your little one, as hard as that sounds. They end faster when they are left on their own, and comforting just extends them.

There are a few good article on the web on this, and I'll try to see if I can find one for you.
