We recently moved our twins out of our room and into their room at night. We did this because they make so many noises at night and we just lie awake listening and jumping up probably sooner than we need to and actually interrupting their sleep. They are five weeks. Did anyone else experience this noisy state of sleeping? Do they get quieter over time? Are there any noises that are not normal? Thanks!

Wow, 5 weeks... you made it longer than we did!!! We also had VERY noisy babies (noises that sounded like grunting) and only lasted 1 week before we had to move them out. It bothered my husband more than it did me. I found their noises comforting and a way of knowing thing were ok. I ended up sleeping on the couch near them but not next to them while they slept in their bouncy chairs. Noises are totally normal but of course check with your doctor if you are concerned.

Something my doctor said after my 4th baby is that most newborns have some form of reflux and the grunting is their way of dealing with it. Made sense to me!

Yup, very normal! And preemies (not sure if your babies are) tend to be much grunt-ier then full term babies.

Yep lots of noise here too!
they still make lots of noises.

ETA- LOTS of grunting (also when awake) can mean they are constipated but can also just be them.

One of our girls was especially loud during the night. I don't remember the exact noises she made, but they were pretty ridiculous sounding! They're 8.5 months now and much quieter. They've been in their own room for a while and while we use a monitor, we don't hear them make any noise these days unless one of them wakes up.

Thanks for the responses everyone. They were 37 weeks. We have started naming the noises: dinosaur grunts, nanny goat, nickering, etc...it is crazy sometimes, like a tropical rain forest!

You lasted A LOT longer than us!! I think it was less a week and the twins were sleeping in their swings ans we room turns on the couch. I just recently joined my DH in our bed bc they're out of the swings and in the pnp.

My two were nosy too - they have quieted down considerably!
