We do not use any light. I leave the door cracked open just abot an inch and the hallway light is on. That is it.

We originally started using night lights when they were a few months old, but we quickly got rid of them. They had became very sensitive to noises when they slept so if I sneaked into their room to check on them, they awoke, they saw me and I was caught. Now they absolutely no lights in their room and I'm able to sneak in and out without being noticed. However, I do feel like a cat burglar because sometimes I have to crawl on the ground to keep away from their line of sight! :D

Hannah has a small lamp (25 watt bulb)! She sleeps with it on all night long. Ben has a small nightlight.

There's a nightlight in my twins' room, mostly so DH and I can see if we need to go in there at night (though we also turn on one of the other bedroom lights and just let the light come in through the door). I don't think the girls care whether there's a light or not.

We do even my SD who is 10 has one in her light socket, it's mainly to see at night and easier to peak in on the boys, it's not real bright just the basic ones that plug into the socket.

No night lights here either. We had them in there when they were smaller for night feedings, but now they tell us to shut off the lights when they go to sleep.

Several months ago, they kept asking me to leave the overhead light on, which I refused, so the compromise is a night light. Now they are hooked on the night light (the "Princess light", it's a Disney Princess night light). It has to go with them to my parents' house when they sleep there.

Our monitor has a little night light and we also keep the door cracked open and keep a night light in the hallway. Not just for them but for us as well.

They have a night light as does my 5 year old. No street light comes in the room so it is pitch black without it.

Night light here! It's for me as much as them. I don't know if they really need it, but it comforts me knowing that it won't be pitch black if they wake up during the night.

We had used a night light from the time they went in to cribs at 4 months until one month ago. About 2 - 3 months ago, Chloe started waking up 45 min in to going to sleep and would not go back down for sometimes 2 hours. It was killing us, so we kept trying to find out what was causing her to wake up and stay awake. When the twins spent the night at grandma's once, they slept straight through, not a peep. We went through this exercise of trying to figure out what was different, and she mentioned she had no light on in their room. BINGO. I tried no night light the next night, and what do ya know - she did wake up, but went right back to sleep. Haven't had any issues with her waking and then staying awake since we removed it permanently. I swear I feel like I have to conduct more experiments than most scientists with these two. :)

We have a night light in the boys' room as well as in the bathroom in the hallway in case they need to go potty during the night.

I read that studies show that children who do not sleep in darkness have more eye problems and more often need glasses. Sorry I can quote where I read it.
Mine sleep in total darkness and if I need to go in and check on them I'll turn on a light in the bathroom which is next door to them leave the door a little open and go in. Also, I really don't want them afraid of the dark when they grow up. Not sure this would do it but maybe getting used to darkness might.

Mine sleep much better in total darkness, so no night lights. We have room darkening shades and the door closed too.

We use one of the LED night lights so it doesn't put out much light -- just enough to get your bearings once your eyes have adjusted to the dark (and it is DARK out here in the boonies).

No nightlight either. We also have room darkening shades and leave the door closed. They don't wake up for 12 hours. I do the same thing for nap time.

We had no nightlight in the room for the longest time. But then ds was crying a lot and really hating going to bed. So.. we tried a nightlight and he slept much better from that night on! So, yes, one low light nightlight (blue light).

We don't use a night light with the twins. Door closed and all lights are off. I have tried to not make some of the same mistakes that I did with my 9 year old DD. She STILL uses a night light while she falls asleep.
