how much less do you give for those middle of the night feedings? i think i may be giving too much (1oz less then they drink through the day).

We need some more info. How old are your babies? How much do they drink?

We fed the same amount at night as during the day at that age and similar weights. Also, we woke the sleeping baby to eat with the awake one to keep them on the same schedule. Mine were no where near ready to sleep through the night at two months old...

I could have written this same post. We did the same thing. We gave ours full feedings and always woke the other to feed at the same time.

how long did you wait until you didn't wake the other if ever. they sleep 5-6 hours now but i feel like my ds would sleep longer if i didn't wake him everytime my dd wakes.

I stopped waking DS up around 2 months and low and behold he slept ALOT longer than my DD and by 2.5 months he sleeps thru the night so I say STOP Waking him up b/c

    a) he may be able to go quite a bit longer than your DD

    B) by waking him up when he could be sleeping longer stretches you might get him in the habit of waking up in the night (even when his body would tell him to keep sleeping)

Just my 2cents... at 3.5 months old my DD still only goes about 5-6 hour stretches but DS has been sleeping thru the night for weeks now (and by sleeping thru I mean 11-12 hours each night)

At that age, I let them eat whatever they wanted at night, which was usually the same as they ate during the day. Now, when I feed my DD at night, I let her suck until she slows down, then take the bottle away and burp her, 9 times out of ten 10 she falls back to sleep without needing/wanting the rest. She drinks about 1/2 what she drinks during the day. I figure at some point it won't be worth it to her to wake up to eat that little bit, but I always give her what she wants at the time.

my boys are 3months and we are gong thru similiar issue. they drink less at night then during day and i hate wasting breastmilk. so i started giving them less aprox 1/2ounce less. my boys are drinking 5oz and 4oz(aprox). im waking them up to feed as well.but now and wondering if i should let them sleep too. trouble is i still have to wake up and pump.

..... question .... how long do you allow your kids to drink from the bottle? ie cut them off if they take longer than 1/2 hour? everyone seemsto be feeding their kids more then us ounce wise .. ours takes forever to eat. i wonder if it bc they are allowing for longer time? but if i let them do it for 1 hour then i feed them again in 2hrs? thats just nuts!
sorry to tag on a question but same kinda issue
    thanks

At that age, I'd just feed them however much they want. It's normal for them to be eating around the clock.

For a while, we'd wake the sleeping baby to eat at the same time. When my instinct told me that DD could go a lot longer than DS, we just gave it a try. It's all trial and error - you may find that one can go a lot longer than the other, or maybe not yet.

i let them feed until they reject the nipple or finish which usually takes 30min. what stage nipples are you using? maybe you need a stage 2 if you are still using stage 1..

We moved to stage 2 nipples at the 3 month mark, it has really helped DD, she gets bored eating and since we switched she is able to eat more per sitting and therefore is eating every 3 vs. 2 hours. What kind of bottles do you have?? Most will have the next stage nipple, BRU has a great supply but I know you can get them elsewhere as well.
