NICU baby idea

I was reading on the NICU forum about gift ideas for nurses and I saw a great idea for Christmas. With the upcoming holidays, donate either new or your used preemie/newborn clothes to the NICU in honor of your children. I know the nurses at our NICU really loved dressing up the babies and making them look nice and cozy in "real" clothes. I found some things on sale at Target.com that I'm going to donate and I have some preemie clothes that my boys only wore a few times that I'll probably take in too. The nurses will enjoy the treat and I think it will feel good to show some love and generosity to other famililes who have to be in the NICU this Christmas. :hug99:

 

I donated the preemie clothes that I didn't put in the babes little chest (of all of their firsts), I donated some blankets back for covering the isolettes, I will be in the future picking up any 2nd hand preemie clothes to take up there and then when the babes were coming out of the NICU, I made baskets of chocolates, coffees, cocoa's, teas, snacks, and a card with a letter and they all loved it.
Those are my suggestions.

I don't have much preemie clothing BUT I will get a basket together and put pictures of my boys in there and take it in.

what a great idea! My girls were not in preemie clothes becase they were pretty good sized, but = thanks for the reminder to do something for the AMAZING nurses and doctors in the NICU. It's been eight and a half months, but i often think that it takes a very special kind of person to work in a NICU: incredibly competent, able to be calm with frantic parents, loving and gentle. (I'm getting tears in my eyes just thinking of the three long weeks my girls were in there - and now they're crawling all over the place and showing off their new teeth!)

 

Our NICU really appreciated the clothes we donated. Some families needed them when their little ones went home and of course the babies are using them when they are there too. I also donated any left over preemie diapers I had too.

What a terrific idea! I ought to do that (if I can get around to it)...

 

I can't wait to visit the nurses and show off how big our boys are and deliver some clothes to them. But I also can't help but think about all the poor families who have babies in NICU over the holidays--remember to keep them in your prayers if you are so inclined.
