nick names?

Does anyone else's kids have interesting nick names for themselves?
both girls call Meridith Mae mae
and they call Ashley Ah-kee.

not too interesting, but they can say it!

 

Andrew calls Catherine "Caty"

 

Kaitlyn used to call Kelly "Kiki" and Kelly calls Kaitlyn "Sister".

 

Jas and Tivvy both say, "Shaz & Tibby."

 

VERY early on they called each other Bea and Dah...NO idea why.

Then they would say each others names like Moysy and Drace. =)

 

I have to share here, because I have kind of a cute story that I think illustrates my daughter's quirkiness.

EVERYONE calls Claire, "Claire bear" because it rhymes. Her grandma, the daycare workers, everyone. Well, over the Christmas holidays we kept the girls home from daycare (normally they go two days per week). Around the beginning of January, Alice announced, "I Alice Tortoise." Colin and I just looked at each other in bemusement. It just appeared out of the blue. When she started back at daycare, I asked the group leader whether maybe they'd made up nicknames for all the kids in the toddler room. No. She'd never heard that. I asked Grandma and Grandpa - no, they hadn't been calling her Alice Tortoise. It seems like she'd just turned it over in her head, decided that she needed a nickname like Claire, and either she identified with a tortoise (I would have picked a hare, myself - she's pretty lively!) or that it sounded kind of the same. Several times since they've both reminded us. Alice will say, "Her Claire Bear. Me, I Alice Tortoise". And Claire does the same. Isn't that funny?

Jazz calls Jessy "Issy". I don't know if she is trying to say Sissy or Jessy.

 

Jamie and Nicole have been Jamalou and Nickadoo for as long as I can remember. They never call each other that, but DH and I always do.

 

Grace calls Maya "My-My" and Maya calls Grace "Gee-Gee" or she tries to say Gracie "G-cie"!

 

I have not been sucessful in getting Gabby to stop calling Bianca "Caca" (which is a word for excrement in Spanish ) We've made a big push on saying Bianca fully and clearly and hoping she would be able to get her mouth around it soon. We manage to get her to call her "Cacajoy" Since she says it all together it is better and less strangers ask why she calls her sister "Caca"

 

EVERYONE calls Claire, "Claire bear"

We call my sister Claire the same name. She was obsessed with Care bears growing up. I think most PPL I know who have a Claire use the same name. Fascinating to me.

Shae used to be "Shae Bear" because she was so demanding and Onry(Sp?) now its mostly "Bear Bear". If I call her anything else she reminds me " No Mom Im Shae.. You call me Bear Bear"


Irelynd is " Irelynd Smilin'" Her smile is contagious and she smiled from the beginning.

 

Ava calls Olivia "Liddy" it's her version of our nickname for her "Livi".
