When did you stop using the type of newborn hat that they come home in? I am still using them with our new 10 day old addition.

I think I used them until about a month old with our 35-weekers.

    Just curious about others.

Once the baby(ies) was home, we never used them again. We were actually told not to with the twins (38 weekers). I assumed it was because of the smothering risk if it came down on their head. I never asked.

Congratulations on your new baby, I think we may have used them the first week, ours were not big fans of the hats (still aren't to this day!).

Ours came home from the NICU after 19 days and they did not wear a hat. The NICU Dr. said there was no need at that point.

We actually had to use ours for quite a while because of our girls not being able to regulate their heat. Our girls were 35 weekers, so for a good month we had to keep their hats on and them swaddled with socks on at all times. Once they were a month old, the pedi okay'd us to not be so vigilant about it. They were also born in the dead of winter, so that made a difference as well.

I can't remember, a few weeks maybe? We kept the house pretty cool in the summer so we felt they needed them.

About 3 or 4 days after being home.

I think I tried using them for about a week and then gave up. They kept taking them off and it wasn't worth the effort to keep putting them back on.

Congrats! We didn't use them when we got home with the twins, however we always put hats on them going out. It's been the same so far with our new little one.

We never used them at home, but still use them for going out. We keep their nursery between 68-72 degrees, so they don't need them for napping. I can't remember where we heard that temp (pedi, maybe?) but they seem comfy at that temp.

We kept the hats on them until they were 41 gestational weeks (in our case 6 weeks).

We only used them at home if we thought their heads were cold...they were born last June and I live in California so it was hardly cold! They were 35-weekers and considered premies so I liked the idea of hats in the beginning. I don't think we used them beyond the first week or two.

We never ended up using them unless we were going out. Our house was warm enough that they did not need them.
