Hello all, I have a question. But first, my background. I am 15 wks 2 days pregnant with fraternal twins. My last u/s was at 11 wks 5 days. The doctor told me it looked liked the babies implanted on opposite sides of my uterus. A good friend of mine is a nurse and the manager of an OB department. Today, I talked her in to taking a quick look at my babies on u/s. Keep in mind, she has no u/s training, but when we both worked night shift as staff nurses, we loved to u/s her with her pregnancies and other co-workers. When we tried to look at the babies today, it seemed like no matter where we looked, it was the same baby. She swears that she thinks we saw separate babies, but to me it looked like just one.
Now for the question. For those of you with twins who have had u/s recently, could you easily see that it was two babies on the screen? Or were they big enough you could only see one at a time with little telling them apart? I have my next appt on Wednesday of next week. I can't really call and talk to my doctor about it, because I could get my friend in trouble.

What do all of you think?

    Thanks!
    Sarah

Ive been getting ultra sounds since i was 5 weeks pregnant, and a lot of them since I got pregnant thru fertility and am also high risk. I am also pregnant with fraternal twins. On every u/s we were able to see the two of them at once. I had an u/s in my 14th week and they were very close to each other and the tech pointed out the thin membrane that was separating them, but again, she was a trained tech. I wouldn't get yourself all worried for most likely nothing. Good luck!!

Sarah, first of all Congratulations on your pregancy ane welcome to Twinstuff!

I had an u/s today and we could see both the heads at the same time but other than that it was all one baby. Mine are both on either side of my uterus. I'm currently 25 weeks and 4 days pregnant. I think that you should not worry about what you saw today, like you said, you both don't have any training in it and that is why we have u/s techs! Wait until Wednesday and please keep us posted!

Hi Sarah & :welcome: to Twinstuff!

    Congratulations on your pregnancy! :yahoo:

I never knew what in the heck I was seeing on my ultrasounds until my final trimester
They would *tell* me what was what, and I would nod my head like I saw the same thing...but it really didn't start to make sense until further along for me :)

I wouldn't stress about it right now & just tell them go through it with you and be really thorough/ask a lot of question at your next appointment on Wednesday :good:

    Good luck!!

:wavey: and welcome to Twinstuff! Congratulations on your pregnancy!! I don't remember what my u/s looked like around that time  and like Tamara, I just nodded as they told me things. My advice would be to not do anymore u/s unless it's with a professional, you don't want to worry for no reason. Keep us posted!!

I wouldn't stress over it. It is really hard to tell, especially as they grow. Most likely, you guys were seeing both babies at different times. Good luck with your pregnancy!!!

I've had u/s since 6 weeks as well, for fraternal twins. During the early weeks, I did see both on the screen because they were so small. However, I think it depends on the tech and the "zoom" of the u/s itself. For the most part, my u/s have always focused on just one or the other baby. There's been a few times I've had to just trust the tech that she knows which one she is looking at. I did have one u/s shot to take home, that shows baby B creeping into the picture of baby A.

When you have your next "official" u/s, don't hesitate to ask them to see if they can show you both on the screen at the same time....

    Congrats!
