I can't believe my little babies are not little babies anymore! We celebrated our twins' birthday yesterday and it made me realize how far they've come in just two years. The first 6 months were really hard, but now it's just such a pleasure! I look forward to the support on this new forum and will be posting many questions I'm sure about potty training and everything else I know nothing about at this stage. So, what happens now that they're 2?

Welcome to 2-4 yr forum. I have found in the beginning I was still looking at the "second year forum" because mine were still a bit behind other kids. Now it seems they are closer to the issues happening here. I do see alot of Potty training and toddler bed questions as well as some temper tantrums that seem to hit at 2.5 yrs old. Wait for those !! I think it seems like most moms on here seem to have their kid figured out at 2 and there are less questions. Maybe that was for me.

I've taken Twin moms advice and mine are still in their cribs, they don't show the maturity or understand yet for PT (potty training) so I tried that in March I think and havent' tried again since. I'm still waiting for more awareness of body functions before I try again. It seemed that it was stressing out my one daughter even though I was in no way pressuring her.

I have two in "straight jackets" one twin and my youngest. My twin was taking off all her clothes and I'd check on her and she'd be nude. Weeks later I realized she wasn't getting it, so I put her in a sleeper with feet but ON BACKWARDS. The baby got put in one because she was getting out of her sleeping bag and it is cold here.

For my two I have enjoyed the maturity and how I can explain and reason with them now and they understand. They might not like it and still have a temper tantrum... but at least I know that they understand what I said.

    Welcome !!

    Heather

Mine are only 2.5, so this is what I've found so far: alot of chatting (they talk non stop and if they can't think of the word, they will make it up), opinions and stubborness...but for the most part, it's not too bad.

At just turned 2, I didn't notice a lot of changes. Then around 2.5, the tantrums picked up. And then between 2.5 and 3, they just seemed to get so big and old and mature all of the sudden! Parenting them isn't nearly as physically exhausting anymore, but mentally it can be tough.

Ha ha. Definitely. I was just explaining that to a lunch guest after Karina talked non-stop through the whole meal including a lot of jibberish.

We've had some stumbling blocks with sleeping and them asserting their independence at inappropriate times, but all-in-all I love this age.

    Welcome to the group!

:welcome: and Happy Birthday to your kiddo's!!!

Two has been such a fun age! The talking is non-stop and I love that they are starting to "get" things... Like that's hot! or STOP! I love how everything is so new and they just can't get enough of the exploring.

I won't go into the tantrums though :gah: :hush:

Their creativity just takes off, also their need for independence...hence all the struggles between us and them...but it really is an interesting period from the developmental standpoint. They change so much from 2 to 4 that is just amazing.

Welcome!!! Ours are almost 27 months and, boy, at 23 or 24 months they were driving me CRAZY! of course I tried toddler beds too soon, tried it for about 6 wks to prepare for a vacation, then a week after vacation (which I ended up having cribs & pnps on but didn't know it ahead of time) I switched back to cribs - my life is back - they were really not mature enough for the toddler beds.

it is SO much fun to watch their little minds learn new things and ours have really started this month to blossom in their language so that's super fun too.

Potty training... yep that's another milestone to figure out when to do... ours are doing pretty well, and actually surprised me with not showing a whole lot of awareness before we started, but now they are really doing great while we're home... now I just have to be brave and try it out of the house too.

    Again, congrats and welcome!!
