    Hi Everyone,
I'm new - I remember seeing this site while I was pregnant then forgot about it until today. Anyway, My girls are 9 months old. One is crawling, pulling up, and starting to cruise, and the other is barely doing anything like that. She loves to be on her tummy and will spin around to get things. She also stretches to get things and if she's on the wood floor will use her arms and slide backwards. She hasn't gotten up on her hands and knees at all. Also, she can sit very well unassisted, but she never tries to move out of a sitting position. She just plays with what's near or watches her sister move around. She is a very happy and social baby, and I know I probably shouldn't be worried. Should I? I keep thinking that if she was a single baby I wouldn't be giving it a second thought, but because her sister is a little althlete I'm seeing a difference and it's making me worry. And then I think, "I swore I'd never compare them, and look at me now!!"

    What do you think?

(Their nine month appointment is in a few weeks, so I'll ask the ped then, but in the meantime I thought I'd check with the experts!)

    Thanks,
    Patty

Hi Patty, welcome to TS. Congrats on your girls. Were they preemies?? Only asking because if so you could have an adjusted age for development. But at 9 months mine both learned how to crawl in that month. One was on all 4's right away and the other is mostly but still sometimes does an army crawl. The spinning around is a milestone as well so it sounds like she is doing what she should be doing. I know exactly what you mean about not comparing them to one another. It is sooooo hard. Again, :sign0016:

Thanks Rachel! They were 6 weeks early. They only stayed in Special Care for a week, so I tend to forget that they're preemies... I hadn't thought of that.

Yes, keep that in the back of your head. Mine were 8 weeks early and they pretty much do most on target for their age, but I always say I have 2 more months for them to master a certain skill. And really by 7 months adjusted for your girls they really should just be sitting mostly unassisted. But there are alot of babies here in this forum that were not doing that just yet either and go on to sit, crawl, cruise, etc all within the timeframe. Remember they are just milestones and there is a huge difference of 6 weeks right now.

Mine never did anything at the same time. Gillian rolled over weeks before her brother. She sat first, crawled first (weekes & weeks before him) and then he got up and walked one day (14 months).... she didn't walk for another 6 weeks. My doc kept reminding me.... they are just siblings.... they will each do things in their own time.

Hang in there..... they'll be into everything soon :)!

This sounds just like my girls. They are almost 8 months and Ashley has really started to cruise this week and Alyssa is totatlly content to just sit where she is and play. She too is very social and happy. I am sure she will catch up soon!! We joke alot that Ashley will be the 1st walker but Alyssa will definately be the 1st talker!! LOL They are just different people.... I drive myself crazy comparing them to my DD#1 with what she did and when and why arent they doing things the same... OH yeah they were 5 wks early!! :p What drives me crazy is when I tell people that Ashley has started to crawl and the 1st thing they say is "why isnt Alyssa crawling"... IDK let me go ask her!! haha.... I am sure it is just us being nurotic mothers!!

    :wavey: Patty! :sign0016: back!

It's SO hard not to compare when you have twins! But it sounds like they are both in the range of "normal" development, so I would just check with your ped like you planned at their next appointment!
