I am a new twin mom. My indentical twin girls were born May 30th at 34 weeks 6 days via c-section due to preeclampsia. They received no NICU time and were discharged with me and doing great!

They are gaining weight and doing so well. They feed every 3 hours ( I nurse one and either my husband or mom feeds the other a bottle of pumped breast milk) and then for the most part they sleep. Everyone keeps telling me this is going to end and they are going to be up all the time and fussy. Is this true?

Also I have them sleeping in the same crib. They love being with each other. How long will I be able to do this before they start rolling on each other and it becomes dangerous?

    Thanks so much!

Welcome to FY! Congratulations on your babies and no NICU!! Awesome!!

I have heard that babies start to get fussy around their actual due date, and for the most part, with my kids anyways, it seemed to be true!!

I had my twins in the same crib for 6 months.

Congrats on your new baby girls!! I have girls too (but they fraternal) and they are TONS of fun!! Just remember that every baby is very different. I can tell you that both my girls suffered colic and reflux so from 5 weeks on it was rough going. It didn't help that my husband works 3-11 at a hospital and I was alone during their fussiest time. But, like I said, every baby is different. I have read that crying peaks around 6-8 weeks and I have heard from other moms that that is true. So you just have to wait and see.

As far as sleeping goes, I think that is a personal decision. What we did was have them in the bassinet of the pack n play in our room until 7 weeks when they started wiggling a little too much. I personally didn't want to have to fight to separate them later, so at that point we put them in their own crib. Mine didn't start rolling over on the floor until right around 4 months and started rolling in their cribs around 8, but I know that is later than most.

    Good luck!

I am glad you found TS. Congratulations on the healthy baby girls. Like pp said, all babies are different, and hopefully yours won't ever hit a fussy stage LOL! Mine got fussy when I would eat foods they couldn't have (wheat, eggs, dairy, soy), but otherwise were pretty easy babies. I had a lot of outside help with them- people from my church and others would come and just sit and hold them, which I loved (then I could keep up with laundry and play a bit with the others). So, as long as they got their allotted holding time, all was well.

They were in the same crib for about 6 months, then I moved them to their own rooms, and seperate cribs. They rolled over at 3 and 4 months, but didn't disturb each other that way when sleeping (I also broke the rules and slept them on their tummies, so they didn't need to roll over).

Good luck and enjoy those precious moments.

    Congrats!!!

Our girls did get fussy - but I think that there are varying degrees. Emma was much more fussy than Mia but in the grand sceam of things neither were very fussy compared to other babies. Don't worry - you will get through it!!

We had the girls in the same crib till they were about 8 months old. They were born in July and I didn't event buy another crib until the following March! You have plenty of time!

I think we put them in there own cribs around 3-1/2 - 4 months (and only because they were to big to be together anymore lol. The first 6-8 weeks though they slept with me, the pack and play, the swing, wherever they would sleep!

    Congrats on your girls!

Welcome & congratulations on your girls! All babies are different, they may never get really fussy, maybe you will get lucky that way. Even if they do, it is a stage that quickly passes (although it can seem like forever!).

Our babies are still sleeping in the same crib & they are almost 9 months. I put them in awake & listen for them to quiet down, as soon as they are asleep, I go & check on them. They are almost always right next to each other, usually touching in some way. Occasionally, Lila will be right on top of Luke, laying right across his back like a big X, & I will have to move her off of him. Once they're asleep, they don't roll on top of each other at all, although if I move them to opposite ends of the crib, Lila will usually manage to squirm back down to be beside Luke. It really is sweet & I dread the day I have to separate them.

Hi and Congrats on the new baby girls!!! :a_smil09:

Mine only started to get "fussy" around 8 wks. but I fiigured out quickly that it was due to reflux. They were started on medicine and all was right with the world again. :)

My boys were in the same crib until 7 months and then in their own crib in the same room. When they were together we used the sleep posistioner and oddly enought they never tried to wiggle out of them. They loved sleeping together, so I let them until they just became to mobile!!!

Good Luck to you and I look forward to getting to know more about you and your girls. :D

Congratulations!! I have girls as well. They are so fun!

My girls never really got fussy at all. I'm breastfeeding (or bottle feeding with expressed milk) and the only time they get fussy is I eat somethign they don't like (garlic etc.). Plus they don't like the evening hours!

They did "Wake Up" right aroudn their due date though. They were awake more and ready to eat. Which was actually a welcome change.

My girls are 3 months and still sleep together. I still swaddle at night though so they are'nt moving all that much!

    Welcome to FY!

Yes, babies do tend to wake up around their due date. The crying will peak at 6-8 weeks adjusted age. So they will only be fussy for 2 months unless you are blessed with a colicky baby (like my Sean). There are a lot of comfort measures you can take to make the babies less fussy. But do be prepared so that you aren't shocked when your angels begin screeching like demons! ;)

I kept my boys in the same crib until they were about 6 months old, they were rolling all over the place and bothering each other at night so I separated them. They now sleep side by side in their cribs and they love it! They are still close and can touch which they really like. At some point in the future they may end up in the same bed again.
