    Hey Everyone,
My twin boys are 10 weeks old and I'm just now finding the time to post a note. Sawyer was 4 lbs and Summit was 2 lbs. They both are out of the NICU and doing good. What a long haul it has been. They are both spitting up a lot when I breastfeed, but not as much when I bottle feed. Any suggestions? Also, curious to know if others have a smaller baby and how long had it taken for the smaller twin to catch up? The smaller baby eats every 3 hours and the bigger one every 4 hours, so it makes for a long day. I feel like I'm feeding all day long. Any helpful hints would be great. Thanks

Congratulations!!! I think it feels like I'm feeding all day long also, whether I bottle or breast feed- it doesn't matter. Mine spit up lots also, and they spit up more when I've eaten something that doesn't agree with them (unfortunately, especially coffee or chocolate). Good luck and enjoy!

    Hi,
My babies were full term, but at birth DD was a little over a pound bigger than DS. She now outweighs him by a little over 3 pounds. Thay are both about the same in length, DS is just thinner. What a difference it makes! She looks pretty massive compared to him, especially at birth.

I never had a problem with spitting up. I, too, breastfeed exclusively. We've been trying solids for a few weeks, but they really aren't taking to them yet. They still nurse about every 2-3 hours during the day. Tandem nursing helps a lot to save time. Plus, it helps with your supply.

Congrats! I bet you are very tired and overwhelmed. The ladies here have a lot of good advice and are good to vent to, too.

We are only a couple weeks ahead of you. My babies are two lbs apart and I think they will stay that way. Norah is taller then Nevan though. My babies spit up when they are not burped enough, are you burping the same between feedings?

Are they crying or fussing when they spit up, not gaining weight as quickly as they should? Then it might be reflux. If they don't care that they spit up and they are gaining well then they might be "Happy Spitters" theres not much to do in that case, just make sure you have a towel draped over you when you burp them. HI there my girls will be turing six months on the 6 and Kate had the same problem that she kept spitting up and she was still gainning wight but we as moms get tired of seeing them always dirty with milk or bibs. SO I took her to a spec. and they didn't see anything wrong with her so my DR. put her on prevacide and everything got better but I also put 1 scoop of rice ceral you know the ones that come in the formula containers for every 2oz of milk and that has help her so much if I only knew sooner. No there is no spit-ups!!! I am so happy.

I pumped my milk and measure how much to give her you do not want to over feed your boys. If you use your milk you might want to add 2-3 scoops of ceral becuase the milk is to watery. But when you use formula I buy Enfamil A/R for spit-up and then add 1 scoop of rice ceral to every 2oz of formula. It took me a while to see how much rice to use that I would not upset her tummy. Since then she is alot more happier. I did this with out asking. Only us that are with our babies daily know the struggles we go thru then I did tell the doctor because she asked me that they were both doing great and looked very good and healthy so thats when I told her I was adding rice. The only thing she did ask if the baby does not get constipated it's ok to keep giving it to her.

    Also about growth and weight

Allyson was 3.4lbs 16 Inches Long
    Kate was 4.5lbs 15 1/2 Inches Long

They were both born at 34 weeks

    Now

    Allyson Over 15 pounds
    Kate about 3-4oz lighter

Allsyon my smaller baby bypass Kate at the second month so as you can see it takes time. On there fourth month check-up Allyson bypass Kate by a pound and that's when I started her on the new formula and added rice and that has help her stay on track.

Sorry if I wrote to much but I know what you are going thru and we need all the support we can get.

Hope some of this will be valid information to you.

    Have a great night
    Blanca

My dd still hasn't caught up with her "big" brother & is actually losing ground. They were 1 lb apart when born & now are more than 2! She is what one pp called a "Happy Spitter" & we've tried EVERY formula out there! They have always been on the same schedule, but at times have eaten different amounts. You might try feeding the "big" brother a little less, so he gets hungry more often & try to get them both at 3 hours. Mine are 4 months & still eat every 3 hours during the day!

My babies are spit up a lot as well. Did they do a test in the hospital to check for reflux? Also, have they done a swallow study?

I also agree with watching your diet to see if something you eat makes them spit up more or fussy.
I have been wondering about how you were doing with your three little kids. Good luck!

It seems like the girl's will never catch up. Riley was born first at 4lbs 4oz. and Skylar was 5lbs. 6oz. and we went to the doctor's yesterday and Riley is 16lbs and Skylar is 23lbs. I hope when Skylar starts walking she will lose some of her baby fat.

    Hello,

My ds was born at 4#12 and dd 4#6. They are both gaining weight well; however, my ds is about 2 lbs more than dd now at almost 6 months. He also eats about an ounce more per feeding. Don't get too hung up on the difference in the weights as long as they are gaining! I worried so much early on and could now kick myself.
