i just found this board, so i'm rather late in my pg to be posting...my name is jamie...i'm married to jason (my 2nd dh), i'm currently 35 weeks 2 days pg with boy/girl twins..i'm due aug 12 with a section scheduled for july 31st, where i'll be 38 weeks and 2 days...so 21 days from now! we have a LARGE family...i'm birth mom to a girl who will be 15 in november...i have katy beth, who will be 12 in november, james, who is 10, jayden (a girl) who is 7, and izzy (short for issac), who is 3...these will be our last babies...hubby and i have had 4 m/c, 3 in the over 2 years it took for us to have these babies...we did NOT expect twins at all, there are NONE in either of our family...our families are SUPER excited at the "novelty"..i'm scared out of my mind at how i'm going to care for them both!

katy beth lives an hour and a half north of here...we visit with her at least once a month and then for an extended time on school breaks and during the summer months...she may be homeschooling in the fall (we already do here) and that will make visitation a lot more flexible for all of us...she is a very charismatic and wonderfully brillant girl who LOVES to read and learn to play musical instruments

james is a specail needs kid...he has pdd-nos and mood disorder-nos...if he didn't have the mood disorder, he'd be classified/categorized/labeled (i hate all of those words by the way) as having mod/severe asperger's...he also has a serious sleep disorder and mod/severe sensory disorder...both of which are NOT at all uncommon with autism spectrum kids (which james is)...james can be very trying (well, more than can be)...he is very smart and the way he looks at things sometimes makes us, the adults, stop and rethink how we are looking at the world ourselves...in the fall, james and i are planning on volunteering to do tech for a couple of our local children's theatre productions and also to have james start swim class

jayden is my super girly girl...she'll be starting dance classes in the fall, which is great because she already tries to walk around on her tip toes all day anyway...either like pointe ballerina's or if she's wearing heels! i'm very tom boy, so her preferences always shock and amaze me...she reminds me a huge deal of my sister...jayden is having difficulty learning to read, and with basic math, we think she may be dyslexic, so we are going to work with her on that this fall when we pick schooling back up...she is a smart little girl with the prettiest blue eyes...her favorite colors are pink and purple and she is SUPER excited to be getting a little baby sister that she can play with and dress up and what not...

izzy is our handful...he's very three, and very very boy...he loves the dirt and to make messes, and if he can make dirty messes, it's even better! we have discovered he HATES animatronic animals that sing and move, so we bought a big billy bass fish and put it on the bookshelf with the kids' schoolbooks and he has left them alone since! which is a big relief to all of us as he would color in them and rip them apart....izzy doesn't speak, though no one can really say WHY that is...he had seizures at birth, however he outgrew those...he was on serious heavy meds for the seizures (i don't remember the name of the med right now) but he stopped those at 9 months old...we are teaching him american sign language and encouraging him to talk and vocalize, he is making steady progress, and it seems he prefers the signs over the vocal speaking...he's VERY entertaining and will do just about anything for a laugh of some kind..his current favorite movie is "the producers" with nathan lane and matthew broderick...he loves the silliness of it..he smiles and laughs and acts along with the ENTIRE 2 1/2 hour movie...

jason is my 2nd hubby...he is amazing and wonderful and so supportive...i'm having a lot of physical discomfort with the pregnancy and jason has really picked up where i've slacked off..i feel so bad about that, but i'm also so very thankful for it...he works part time at walmart...he was laid off his full time job 2 days before we found out we were pregnant...

i see midwives that also have doctors in their practice, i deliver at a hospital..this will be my first section, and i'm very nervous about it..i've had major surgery before (2 inch plate and 9 screws in left ankle, it brok in 3 places) but i was knocked out for that so i have no idea about the procedures that took place...

the babies names will be jack david and abbey michelle...jack is a family name..my grandfather's name and david is jason's dad's name...abbey is something that jason chose...with the first name abbey and our last name, it makes the title of a beatles album, and is also the location of the studio where they did all of their recording...while our last name is spelled differntly (we are like the scholar, not the street) the understanding of what it is tribute to is there..michelle is a beatles song...

currently, jack is VERY engaged and head down...abbey is laying transverse over him, like the top to a T...at the u/s i had at 33 weeks, he weighed about 4 pounds even and abbey was at 4 pounds 13 oz...i'm having horrible pelvic pressure from jack trying to come out with out the cervix opening for him AND horrid heartburn from the way abbey is now laying...

i have been told since we found out about the twins at 12 weeks that they would most likely come early, and come on their own...i don't believe for a minute that they'll come on their own..i asked the midwife to take a look at the "goings on" down there today...because of the increased pressure from jack, i'm losing my mucus plug slowly but surely, however there is very little going on with the actual cervix moving and wanting to move...which really didn't surprise me at all...my last 4 pg's were all overdue, with izzy and jayden being 2 full weeks overdue, and they were all induced...my cervix is VERY stubborn and it seems to take more and more to get it to dilate...when izzy was born it took 2 full days of pitocin and a tab cytotec in the middle to get him out, and he weighed just over 10 pounds when he was born...

i am going to try to come here pretty regularly...i usually have my blog header in my siggy live linked to my blog, so i'll figure out how to do that...and find some kind of avatar picture...

thank you for the welcome! james LOVES babies...it bothers him when kids get to be about 2 1/2-3 years old...jayden is super excited to have a little sister to dress up..i'm pretty sure she's thinking of having an interactive doll! she's already told me how she is going hold abbey and feed her and dress her, but "you can change her diapers mom!"...katy beth was a little disappointed that the twins are boy/girl..if they were both girl, she would have gotten her own room (we are converting a storage room in the house to a very small bedroom for one of the olders) however james is going to be the one to get his own room and katy will be getting a day bed (and her own space in a way) in my office once the twins move upstairs to the "kid floor" when they are about 1 1/2 or so...jason LOVES babies as well and me, i prefer the toddler set....our extended family is super geeked about having TWO babies and how it's never happened before and all of that...we decided NOT to do a shower with these two, we have everything we need for them, instead at the end of august/beginning of sept, we are going to do a "meet the babies" party here at my house...mmmm, a good reason to bbq!

personally, i'm finding the twin pg to be different than any other pg i've had...i've never had the swollen feet and ankles like this...the stiff joints in my fingers, the excrutiating hip and pelvic pain...i feel like my body is going on strike! there's only 3 weeks at the most (well 20 days) left, so it'll be all right, i KNOW i can get through, just take it a day at a time! i DO have lots of questions about the births of twins and how they have gone for other people..and the recovery and the feeding and the care and all of that..i've done single babies no problem, it's like old hat...i'm kind of hoping that that helps me with caring for 2!

Congrats and welcome to TS!!! Sounds like you have a wonderful family anxiously awaiting your two little ones!! Sorry you are so nervous for the c-section. Did you ask about the possibility of a vaginal birth (since all your others were and baby a is head down?)

i did ask about a vaginal...one doc told me that they would only allow it if they were both head down, another doc told me it was up to who was on call at the time i went in to labor...i opted for the scheduled c-section because with all of my deliveries (with the exception of the very first one when i was 17) i have had to be induced in order to get the cervix to do ANYTHING...with katy beth i was leaking fluid even and it STILL wasn't doing anything...jayden and izzy were both born 2 full weeks overdue...the induction for izzy was HORRID...i had 2 days of pitocin, and a tab of cytotec in the middle...and he STILL didn't come out until the end of the 2nd day at 9:20 that night...he weighed 10 pounds 1 oz...so the "theory" that all the extra weight from two babies will force my body to do it's thing seems rather silly to me! if i do happen to go in to labor on my own, we'll see what happens and how quickly...if they are willing to let me try, and i won't need any "encouragement" i'm willing to do it, however if i'm in labor and the cervix is being stubborn, then i'm definately going to do the section...i know the recovery for the section will be a little longer, however being induced and birthing 2 babies doesn't exactly sound like a walk in the park to me either...they are also taking in to consideration that 2 weeks ago, both babies were over 4 pounds a piece, and the estimate that if i make it to 38 weeks (when the section is scheduled) is that both babies will likely be around 7 pounds a piece, so they are worried that any kind of induction techniques may ruputure the uterus because of it being SO stretched out...
