It will be very good if somebody will help you with your son. Helped me a lot with my 3.5 year old one. Probably I could not make it so far. I'm on bed rest too and I will be for the rest of the pregnancy( between 0 and 0.2cm short cervix and 3cm dilated at the moment). I was on home bed rest from week 19 to 24, and my cervix changed because I had many temptations-playing with my son, doing laundry, cooking, etc. From week 24 to 28, I was in the hospital and my cervix didn't change anymore. So, it's very important to really rest. I hope it will all work for you. Bed rest is hard, but you can do it!

Hello, I am brand new to this (as of yesterday) myself. I am 25 weeks with twin boys, and during a routine appt they told me my cervix had shortened from a 4 to a 2. I am on an Rx now, and go back in on Mondy for the q-tip test- to see if I have to get IV meds and steroid shots for their lungs. I am devestated- things had been going so well. I have a 17 month old and our family is 12 hours away. No idea what we are going to do.

Does anyone get 'off' of bedrest after this? Can it stop shortening?

Thanks and I'm sorry about your situation too.

Hi girls. I think I'm on bedrest. You're probably laughing "think". I called my doctor, only because the girls at work said I should if only to have my situation documented. Saturday, I had been having what I think maybe just Braxton hicks. They really take my Breath away. I actually just had one while typing. My doctor and highschool friend said I should go home and keep my feet up until after our appointment. I called Monday and my appt is Wednesday AM. These BH seem to be getting stronger, not painful, but definitely THERE. So, as far as I know I MAY be returning to work...I'm only 18w4d so that's a long time to be on bed rest!! I just like to know if I'm having cervical changes!! The not knowing is HARD!

There are plenty of girls here who had very short cervixes and made it pretty far. Yes, it can stop shortening; it can even get longer. My doctor let up on the bedrest and meds at 36 weeks. 25 weeks is pretty early so you take care of yourself and listen to your body and don't do anything crazy.
