Taking a page from double or nothing...I am putting this here to help introduce myself as I join the "big kid" board! I am looking forward to getting to know you experienced moms!! OH---also, our 12 mo. check up stats: Owen : 31" and 25.3 lbs.; David: 31" and 23.9 lbs. Healthy as horses!! >>Well, I can't believe we're here at our first birthday!! When DH and I decided to try for "one for the road" before I turned 35, we never imagined it would be TWINS!! Talk about watch out what you wish for! DH just wanted the chance at a boy, and here we are with two! We delivered at 37w5d with a scheduled c-section (repeat after dd2 turned breech a week after our due date!). I ended up passing out due to low bp while getting my epidural and then spend the entire delivery feeling like I was jumping out of my skin b/c they had to continually keep giving me shots of epinepherin(?) [speed] to keep my bp high enough to do the c-section. But the boys arrived weighing 8lb7oz and 7lb9oz and cute as can be! We spent 4 days in NICU getting our respiration under control (Owen had some fluid in his lungs, and they both had elevated respiration) then actually eating (could those be MY kids who don't want to eat??? ) But then I got a whole day with them in the hospital before we came home. It was a crazy first week, since dd1 made her first communion when they were 8 days old and our ENTIRE family came to celebrate! This year has been a year of changes, as I've been home with them (never did that with my girls...) and just the joy of twins. We're still working on sleeping through the night, but it's been better recently, with only one waking usually around 5am... We were able to nurse (on only one breast!!) for 10 months, which I was thrilled with (I only made it 8 mo. with my dd's). The boys are healthy, mobile, and big ol' horses! Owen is about 31" and 25 lbs, and David is about 31" and 24 lbs. They love eating, playing with each other, and Owen is starting to toddle around more...he knows NO FEAR!! They love their sisters and can't wait to play with them when they get home from school. Owen is more laid back and relaxed, while David is a little more high-maintenance, but they are both cuddle bugs, which makes up for just about anything! For their birthday, we're actually doing their party next week, as dd2 is making her first communion then! We'll do an LSU themed party (to match their room! ) and it will be mostly family. I'm sure they could care less, but they'll love their second taste of cake (although, for this one, I'll ask for less icing!!) I never imagined that I could be so happy and in love with more kids than the two I had, or be more at peace with our lives, crazy as they are. Even with the additional struggles of one income, 4 kids, and a "new" life for all of us, our family has found more peace and love in our lives than ever before. Twinstuff, and all of you, has made this journey more fun, supportive and easier than I ever could have imagined. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!! You can see our "before" pics on our website at http://www.landons.com, and then our "after" posted in http://picasaweb.google.com/duranjt. I can't believe my babies are one!!! I can't wait to see what the next year holds!!! ANYWAY...I, too, promise not to be this long winded ever again, unless it's an emergency!! Nicole
Nicole, you crack me up girl. Nice to have some known names coming over here with me. I already miss the FY forum and feel so out of place here but I'm sure I'll get more comfy as time goes on. Congrats on making it through your first year with twins but even more so with 4!!! Happy Birthday to Owen and David!! Can't wait to share stories and experiences with you and everyone else.
